Thanks for another interesting experiment! I will absolutely try that. Especially, looking forward to taking the 3 main brushes i use and finding out just how many ways i can push them. Im sure ill be surprised. Heres an experiment for you in return. I wanted to do the last inktober but really didnt know how to use inks. So each day i used a non-inktober prompt (curl, square, dots, arch, diamond, swirl, line, grid, etc) and experimented with making those shapes in as many inky ways i could possibly think of. It was a helpful learning experience with no pressure to be good and a handy reference to look back on for inspiration.

Wonderful! So nicely explained. I loved seeing John Pule's work in there. I will definitely try this method with my students. They are looking at māori mythology in their classes next term, I think this VLT method would work well with this. Your you tube channel should be in the resource section of ANZAAE (Aotearoa New Zealand Association of Art Educators) it is helpful and inspiring!

Thank you so much for your comment and question! Usually my videos are aimed at students, but as this was for a teachers' training day, it is not. However, because of your request, I will make a 'for students' version which will probably be ready in a few weeks... and I will attach a link here when that happens... Thank you for asking!

Great content as always. This is a nice guide to any kind of teaching. In the US, much attention is paid to STEM teaching, Science-Technology-Engineering and Math is top priority in schools here. I am working on modules to link badminton coaching with STEM goals. Are you doing anything along those lines? Administrators need an understanding of art history to recognize chemistry, visual neuroscience, materials and the nature of creativity are active in art education. The art-science-industry network is alive. Best and thanks for posting!

Thank you for your generous feedback! Yes, STEM learning is getting a lot of attention across Europe too, but so is it broader cousin: STEAM (Science-Technology-Engineering-Arts-Math), and now that I am also teaching the Design Technology program in my elementary school alongside the art program, I am introducing more interdisciplinary projects. A while back I made this STEAM learning video as an example for teachers who are wanting to make a modest start towards this approach. Many advocates of STEM / STEAM seem to be coming from larger schools with substantial technical facilities and established team-teaching cultures. My sample STEAM lesson imagines the modest reality for most teachers, and has a single starting point and will suit teachers who may not be able organise team-teaching of cross-curricular learning, for a variety of reasons. Instead of team-teaching, which is often difficult to achieve because of scheduling issues, this project proposes a ‘steering group’ or teachers from each subject area that will define the elements to be taught from the outset, and then at the end of the project, participate in the evaluation: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pr6DZ7KbsbnFo2g.html

What printing paper were you using Rob😊
@RobtheArtTeacher6 ай бұрын
I use grease-proof (not waxed) lunch wrap paper because it's cheap and it takes a reliable impression when little hands are printing by hand. The only thing to be careful about is not overdoing the rubbing or burren pressure when printing, because the ink can come through the paper, at which point the paper tears...

Thanks Rob. I have a student who will benefit from this process.
