I can't believe that some americans would pay over $370K USD for a house in Mexico; that amounts to over 6 million mexican pesos. You do not need to pay that much, for a good nice house, if you are not very picky in the place; Ajijik is where american expats live, but you do not have to. Houses in Mexico, affordable for less wealthy americans, start from about 2 million pesos, or about 120 K USA, and if you look patiently, you could find the jewel you dream of. More expensive, like 400K usa or more, you better look for a colonial, old house in historic downtown, because those houses only will keep getting more and more expensive over time. Besides, it is fun to live in an old spanish colonial house, with its typical design of a central patio, or garden and a shade around, where you can enjoy your morning coffee. Look for cities in central mexico, especially the capitals of the states of Michoacan, Guanajuato, Queretaro, Mexico state, Hidalgo, and some middle to smaller size towns. Central mexico is the best place to live, because its weather is temperate thanks to the high altitude.

A lovely unique house! Airy, open, good flow, and the decor and art are placed beautifully, showing what can be done with this structure. I love the wood ceiling of the indoor/outdoor room.

Well put together video. the only problem is that every one of these places seems to be a gated community, mini Gringo town. Just as it was five or six years ago when I came looking. 5 days was enough for me.😁They may be OK as an income source, but certainly not as a place to live. since most of these places are bought and then rented out. often as short term weekend rentals for party people from Guadalajara. Let the buyer beware! Haha.

To each their own, a lot of my buyers prefer gated communities. And they're absolutely livable. My personal preference is small homes that I can make super cozy. If it's not your thing, doesn't mean it's not someone else's.

Guess who buys in those gated communities? Americans AND Mexicans. I have a Mexican couple right now looking to buy and they want a gated community with an influence of Americans so that the wife can practice her English.

I don’t think Trump or the next Democratic choice can keep lake Chapala from drying up. It’s going to dry up and that will be the end of that area. I hope I’m wrong. I’ve never been there, but everyone I know that has, all loved it. Say it’s one of the most beautiful places they have ever seen.

@@j.j.salazar595 we had a drought last year, but the lake is not drying up. It's starting to come back to its previous level prior to the drought, since we've had a great rainy season so far.

Yes! Especially a woman 10 years younger than me. :) Yeah, I was shocked too. I think people just get big eyes when they see imported goods. It's a 50% markup to cross the border, and they have to mark it up past that to make a profit as well.

You're gentrifying our neighborhoods, artificially inflating prices, and driving natives out. #2 Soriana isn't like WalMart. We actually have WalMarts in Mexico. Soriana is more like Target meets Whole Foods.

If your opinion of Americans and Canadians "friendliness " and value of family & relationships is so low, best you stay in Mexico. Enjoy the substandard infrastructure, the undrinkable water, the constant loud music, fireworks, etc. I lived in Ajijic and found the inconveniences, the over priced properties, and lack of unavailable goods and services, to be unliveable for me. Saying that properties there don't need work - tell that to a friend of mine who paid $380k for a house only to find out it had a laundry list of problems that's cost him $60k so far. Come to find out, sellers there don't have to disclose issues with a home they are selling and appraisers, inspectors are not always honest with the condition of the home. To say living in Mex is not Unicorns and rainbows is an understatement. People need to go live there for 6 months - year before making that decision.
