no prob! still able to make out everything so it works out your demo was the only one i could find of this particular ehx unit that wasn't obnoxious or deliberately obtuse in showing what it could do so thanks a bunch for staying true to it :> pat flegel (formerly of the band known as women) who now performs under cindy lee uses this pedal on vocals and i'm rly in awe of their production style and the intentional use of both the pre- and post reverb to make everything unintelligible and washed out, go listen to cindy lee if you haven't!!

@@throughnightskies Thanks for the kind words. A lot of people seem to focus on the vocoder side of this unit, which isn't where I find it to be the strongest for my purposes. Although, I did once have some wild signal chain using a Kaoss pad synth as the instrument signal to effect the vocal. I was not hip to Cindy Lee, but bookmarking now for sure!

Thanks for watching. Ultimately, I tried using a Boss RC-3, for which I have also made a video: studio.kzfaq.infoYAmOB3yLn-A/edit However, due to the workflow I was going for, I didn't really find that method to work as well as I would like. Ultimately, I just determined that I wasn't going to get the control I wanted without using Ableton, so I kind of came full circle since that is where I started with the material in question. It all comes down to your desired workflow, and patience with all the nuances of this type of gear.

It's probably more now. They use the "Transitions" technology without the expensive name! Cool video. About a year ago, I did something really similar with a Mackie CR1604 mixer from the 90s. Like you, I watched every video on youtube to get some ideas of what the job was going to entail. While less channels than yours, very similar to the same stuff you dealt with. Fortunately, I didnt have any glued connectors so I had no trouble getting them off. I did try to source new slider potentiometers because there were many channels that were scratchy and/or would drop in and out. Unfortunately, I could not find any that would work without modification. So I decided to desolder all of the old ones and disassemble to clean them. Opening up faders to remove all the little components definitely takes patience.. That was obviously a big job but pretty much made them new again. I know jobs like this are beyond tedious especially considering hardware mixers are almost pointless in todays time but there is definitely something therapeutic about it. Anyway, enough rambling. Glad you got this mixer running again!

Thanks for watching. That's really too much to list here, but check to make sure you have the TDA Master installed on your master channel in Ableton, and that it shows connected. As I mention in the video, it's best to reference the Derivative web site for their specifics on installation of TDAbleton, which also covers the Ableton side. Be sure you are using a version of TDAbleton that is compatible with your version of Ableton.

FYI - One step to triple check is here: Set up Ableton Live Open Ableton preferences (in the Options menu on Windows, and Live > Settings on macOS) and select the Link MIDI tab on left. In one of the Control Surface dropdowns, select TouchDesigner. Input and Output should be set to None. Reload your Live Set If that isn't set, nothing will work. But as I say, there's a lot more to check in their documentation.

@@theXshoter1 I tried this with Ableton 11.3.22 using the latest TDAbleton v 2.1.1. I am seeing the same issue that you are. Something is up with the TDA Audio Analyzer. It could be a bug. I'll mess with it a bit more, but maybe check the forums. Also, be sure you aren't using an old device from a prior TD Ableton install. It does take some fiddling to get this working.

the main reason for this pedal is having an instrument plug in so the harmonice thing work, and you made a video without an instrument.......
@JeremydePrisco
@JeremydePrisco 6 ай бұрын
Yes. The voice modes I showed work without an instrument input, which was the whole point of the video. You can use these pedals all sorts of ways. There is no such thing as a "main reason" for anything. At the time, I was consulting with someone who just wanted to see what this pedal would do under these circumstances. There are plenty of other videos out there that use the instrument feature.

It's worth noting that - in this demo and others I've explored since - WAVTool simply does not understand what a "blues" progression is. Despite the feedback the program gives in the chat, it is very difficult to nudge the app to create even a basic I / IV / V progression.

Sure, you could do that. Determine what MIDI trigger you want to use, then assign a track in Ableton to handle that. Or you can use timers in Touchdesigner synced to the program material. Depends what approach you want to take based on the program material.

So the line in from amp/monitor plugs into the right top and the microphone plugs into the top left? Can you also do guitar plugged into bottom left and line in to the monitor on bottom right? ... never seen a video explaining how to and what to plug-in to the slots. Would really help newbies. Thankyou in advance.
@JeremydePrisco
@JeremydePrisco Жыл бұрын
The instrument input (bottom right 1/4") is for a guitar or mono synth or whatever you want to pass through the Voice Box to drive the vocoder. The instrument output (bottom left 1/4") is going to give you a passthrough of that instrument sound so you can run it through other pedals if you like, or go straight to your amp. The results on the vocoder will vary widely depending on what type of instrument you use, and the nature of the vocal content. I think the EHX V256 is a better overall vocoder. That feature on the Voice Box is more of an afterthought in my opinion.

Is there a program in which i can see all the different loop-parts of one track-file? So one track might consist of up to i dont know 8 loops or more, is there a possibility to see all 8 separately so you can switch one on and the other off?
@JeremydePrisco
@JeremydePrisco Жыл бұрын
If you have a single file with multiple loops within it, then you would need to use an audio editor - something like Adobe Audition or Audacity - to pull each loop out into its own file. The RC-3 doesn't have any capability to do that by itself.
