There might be electronics. AF film cameras(like the nikon f5) do exist. Also, try not to use double-gauss structured ultra wide angle(like the contax hologon g16 or the Leica super angulon 21mm f3.4), as they might cause colour shifts.

Well made video but has a few issues with it. Physical media degrades too yk, and it isnt as if hard drives failing means their data is lost... It isnt. It just becomes much less accessible. As most things it comes down to preference because both media have pros and cons. Sure you could use physical media, but youll eventually run out of physical space. That 35 tb can store a lot more than your house filled with film ever could yk
@bogdan.vilimonovic23 күн бұрын
As many have pointed out and i will expand, store your data in the cloud. There are multiple levels of redundancy in the datacenters that various cloud centers provide, from the basic hard drive failure to being protected again power outage or extreme weather events, to literally having the same data cloned on two locations. So losing your data from the cloud would be less likely than for example your house burning down and you losing all your physical media. But for important stuff i would still have a local backup because who knows, maybe the cloud providers get greedy or the platform gets hacked or who knows If you want the data locally cheapest and most secure way is to set up a NAS with multiple hard drives and set up some sort of RAID to have redundancy in case of hard disk failure

A couple years ago, I had a HDD and lost a year’s worth of footage. The disk wouldn’t spin anymore, and it wouldn’t “dock” on the computer. I took it to a recovery service and there was nothing that could be done, so the data was lost 🤷🏼♂️
@samsplaying23 күн бұрын
@owencapp but did you read my comment about backups?... All my photos are saved twice. The probability of both drives failing is less than or equal to your physical photos being destroyed

I find lasting a "half" day a bit of a stretch. Within an 90 min at a busy event at half power, the flash was was at 1/4 power left on each of the ones I owned. The Nikon SB-910 was my workhorse and rechargeables last a full wedding day with ease. No way with this light but still has it's advantages :) By the dancing at a wedding, I'm using the Nikon flash as both Profoto batteries are dead.

rhis is why you always get off site backups e.g. on the cloud its more reliable than physical media, a housefire and your pictures are gone, if its on multiple sites digitally you need tons of housefires
@owencapp23 күн бұрын
Very true. Is this something you do with your data? I've been considering doing this, but I'm hesitant if I have to upload everything, since it'll take quite a bit of time, and if this means I'll always be stuck in a subscription to the data service storing everything.
@Jacob_Blue_Lobster24 күн бұрын
just get 3-4 1 tb ssd and back up ur stuff on the ssd's and put them on like somewhere dark and dustless, the chances to it fail is very low, so you gonna be better about storing memories or just use glass like Microsoft

@@owencapp not hdd, using physical storage is most fragile and risky way to storage something, ssd uses 1 and 0 instead of writing on a disk

Hey, physical media is wonderful I agree, but theres a few holes in this and the point goes both ways. Transfer to SSD and or cloud instead of just anxiety ridden HDD. Solid state doesn't use disk based tech that fails and corrupts at the moment constantly. like anything, including physical media, SSD has a lifespan or risk factors when holding precious or valueable data but as time progresses, you will have a much easier time converting your data that is currently massive to you (35+ Terabytes) In a few years, Petabytes and cloud storage will be normality and held on incredibly stable hardware, all can very safely hold hundreds of copies of your 35 terabytes spread throughout other drives for safe keeping. Many constantly watch phsycial media get destroyed out of their control, burned one day in a house fire, hurricane, any disasterous event really, the lucky ones digitize that media and spread that data out as much as they can.
@owencapp23 күн бұрын
Very true. 1 house fire, or flood = all of the data is lost forever. Is there a longterm data solution that you use? I'm hesitant to buying a ton of SSDs, but always open to new ideas.

@@owencapp go and buy a ground cellar in a location that's lack of earthquakes, create your own server, and make your own cloud server after connecting it to internet or smh
@JackB34523 күн бұрын
@@owencapp I think the most long term solution would be periodically updating and transferring data to new technology. Right now it's SSD which still only has a 10 year lifespan if you get a new one today, however it's much more stable than a disk. I have no idea the repercussions of a solar flare or other disasters on cloud storage but that would be a safe way to store as a backup too. I'm convinced within the decade there will be a storage method that is much more long term and immortal! Haha

Shrink your roll of film by 10 times, do you still consider it physical media? You cant see the details with your eyes, so now you need a machine to read the roll, same idea with hard drives, rolls of film need to be kept safe so they dont age, a properly cared for hard drive with backups serves exactly the same, my point is, i just feel like its a false dichotomy
@owencapp23 күн бұрын
If it's a false dichotomy, what are the other options that exist beyond HDs and film? Cloud storage?
