Note: this issue that affects lots of laptops regardless of price is due to the hinge tension being slightly too tight causing excess strain on the plastic which breaks over time. The hinges seem to get stiffer to move over time. The fix is when you get a new laptop , get access to the hinges by removing the screen bevel ( it pries off easily ) and loosen the nut on both hinges so they are less stiff to move but not too loose so there still is some support for the screen. The laptop makers don't care about this issue and often will refuse a warrantee repair or add charges for what should be a free repair. With this in mind my suggested fix is something to consider.
