I've been cutting my own hair forever. Usually a win, sometimes a fail but it grows back out. I can say I've ruined my hair way less tines than when going to get it cut... and for way less money.... and at least I cab only blame myself

(firstly I want to apologize for the very lengthy comment) this was amazing! It's Disney princess film, but it is a rococo fashion era film called Young Catherine it's a two part film from 1991 I think. The fashion is beautiful but there is a certain character's attire I wanted to point out. I forget her name but she suggests a poison plot against the character Sophie. She has one dress that looks really good, but the rest, I would love your opinion on. In part 2 of the film she wears a gorgeous pink Robe de Cour with this gorgeous mini bow decorative detail, however the top part of the gown looks really sad looking, but's a later scenes where she's wearing a cloak over the gown. I don't know if it's accurate but the way cloak lays on her gown which is made for one of those super wide pannier styles. It's kinda hard not to chuckle because it was the first time I saw one of those gowns with a cloak that covered the entire body so it looked like she was poking out of a velvet box . but the dress I love the skirt but I hate the top because it looks like they tried to alter a pink hoodie into a period piece bodice. The gowns worn by actress Vanessa Redgrave though are super stunning. there's scenes where she wears gentlemen attire that has the traditional manly look but the wear her character wears it gives off a very feminine look. also in three scenes Vanessa wears this black gown when she goes on pilgrimage I think to stay at a convent to meditate and pray that dress has two or three different stomachers and I think two different style petticoats all and all the costumes in that film are gorgeous except some of the head villian's wife's clothes and a few of his nieces dresses. His character's niece btw would have made a great stepsister character for a live action Cinderella film she had a very wicked stepsister fairytale look about her.

Yeah, I hate these myths too. One of my history professors insisted women didn’t move around much in the Victorian era. And that’s just clearly wrong. When I got fitted for a corset at a goth clothing store, they helped me try it on and when I asked about safety, they said a lot of the same things like “it shouldn’t be squeezing the life out of you, it should fit like a firm hug where you can still breathe comfortably.”they were right and it still fits great.

The fact that you kept saying "no" to the bell[e]-shaped dress with a straight face made me chuckle 🤭 Love these videos -- I am learning so much!! (Also I am totally a fan of her alternate gold dress 😍)

Hello Victoria.....be careful with your old picture album that has the green wallpaper like paper design inside...I've learned they used arsenic in that green color which filled victorian homes, and many people got sick. I think it's worth checking out,..and/or maybe wearing gloves at least in the future. I love watching your talent in sewing!! God Bless you in all your fashion endeavors!!

I’ve seen the old version from France and Belle’s sisters are dressed like in the cavalier dress style of the court of Versailles so I always took the style should have been in the mid to late 1600s but Disney seemed to opt in for the 18th century

This green 😍 dress is awesome,.. I would make a few the same in different colours, and you can wear it with a nice apron, or a little shorter skirt over it,.. or a waist band with different colours braids.. I wear every day selfmade long skirts.. and is so feminine..

Try using buttonhole stitch on the eyelets in the future. It's really sturdy if done right.

Hmmm... you've probably figure out by now, but for any newbies -- you don't actually RIP a hole for eyelets. You use an awl (which, while pointy, is not a cutting tool), and you widen a space between the fibers. Then the eyelet stitching holds that space open and prevents distortion.

I use a leather hole punch and embroidery thread. It looked like she used regular thread. I used regular thread too the first time I did hand sewn eyelets. She did a good job for a beginner.
