Definitely coming out how I envisioned it! I love the size of the bed and the overall platform! Basically I wanted just a little larger habitat than the GMC Canyon adventure truck. The fact that it still fits in a parking space is super beneficial to doing road trips without a ton of planning. I was one of the big things I ran into with my expedition truck, Oscar, Mike with overnight parking and places that you were unfamiliar with. thank you for taking the time to comment. I so appreciate you! Cheers!

Don't like carpet bc it heavy & holds odor. Don't like dark colors in small spaces. Still a cool build.

Thank you so much for leaving the comment and I totally respect your opinion and you’re definitely with the masses on the subject. Carpet probably weighs somewhere around 30 pounds and is removable and less than a minute. It’s not like I glue them to the floor and underneath that is Hurkuliner bedliner. My other expedition truck,Oscar Mike is fully carpeted in black and I do happen to love dark cabin like feel in small spaces. It’s one of those things,to each there your own and I totally respect what you’re saying but absolutely love the carpet! I do take my shoes off at the door, so it definitely feels wonderful on the feet and I have not ran into any issues with odor. Maybe you’ve had a different experience? Once again, thank you for the comment so appreciated! Cheers!

I have not. Super low center of gravity that I really appreciate! I did buy the float bags for it because that was one of my concerns as if it filled with water it would sink to the bottom. I have just recently sold all of my Oru kayaks and have went to a kayak paddleboard. I do feel that inflating is easier than unfolding and re-folding hard to beat the performance of a.Oru for a foldable kayak. Even though I sold mine, I can still say I highly recommend them but explore all your options! They do sell really well on the use market.

My initial purchase which was in the video here was right at the $15,000 marker that I had to spend. Things have went up and the machines are even gotten better. I ended up with a tool changer and full enclosure which added about another 8K at the time. That was about a year after this video. I ended up selling it last summer for 20 K. I think it’s a great product and I would buy it again. I’m just spending more time traveling in my expedition truck I built. Hope this helps and I’m here for you if you have any more questions. I have zero issues with the machine! The guy I sold it to hasn’t run in five days a week making paintball parts.

Happy 56th birthday new to the channel love your content I am just wondering I am going to build my own truck build here in a minute I know that you had your own Ryder truck add switch to with the overhead cab which one did you prefer
@TRCa51
@TRCa51 13 күн бұрын
I absolutely loved my rider box van! Being that I had the cab over that’s where I started sleeping, which gave me a lot of room. At one time I hauled a dirtbike and a rock crawler still had room to spare. I built the expedition truck to encompass everything I do and be able to even live out of it if necessary. that being said, I prefer the expedition truck over the box van, but everything has its pluses and minuses. I’m currently building a Humvee hi/ low camper. That will be nice cause it will fit in a parking spot and be just under 8 feet which will fit in some parking garages if necessary. I’m definitely here to bounce ideas off of! Thank you for subscribing and leaving a comment! Always here to help! Cheers!

Did you prime the bare plywood with a good exterior oil base primer before you applied the Herculiner it may be self priming i don't know but i know that if you paint bare wood without priming it first the paint will start peeling off in about 6 months. Thank you for taking the time to comment and sorry I missed what you were looking for. I feel the 70 one is a much better off-road motorcycle so if what you plan on using it for is 50% or greater off-road I feel the 701 is a better choice than the 890 rally. If you’re going to do 50% or more on road I would choose the 890. Hopefully that helps a little bit.

@TRCa51
@TRCa51 27 күн бұрын
Yes I do have the tool. I use the same type of clamps on all my motorcycle projects! I have had the self built GMC Canyon Adventure truck that I just sold and have never been turned away from any campground State of Federal park. I do know there is a rule but just give a manufactures name if required. I do see School bus build turned away about at a 50% of the time from what I have seen! My Expedition truck is also self built and never have had a problem. For the most part I camp on BLM or forrest service land. I really do not think it will be a big deal unless it looks junky. Some parks we have been to have a 10 year old rule. 10 years old or newer! Still not a problem in our experience ! Hope this helps and thank you for commenting! Cheers!

@coachgeo 27 күн бұрын
am 100% sure you know this and will build accordingly.... but others might not... 1. propane tanks ALWAYS will vent gas. 2. LP is heavier than air. 3. due to #1 & 2, the storage space must be vented to outside away from spark. Also Vent(s) placed at Lowest possible spot(s) 4. Storage area of LP tank must not share ANY air with living space. (a US camper* and home building code ) Also preferred method by Fireman who have to save your ass (per/ Overlander builder who was also a Fire Chief) helps prevents any combustion from exploding/ flaming into living space. This is why tanks are 100% of time Certified Manufactured campers* put LP tanks in an outside only accessible storage situation. Also why on Outback Utes or trailers they simply put them on outside back wall, up high (cant be rear-ended) , clamped onto a rack 5. Storage space for LP must have zero electric components or any other possible sparking such as static spark nearby. * Certification notes- Many campgrounds will NOT allow any self built campers. Their insurance simply wont cover non certified /not built to code campers.. Only allow certified manufacture built rigs. Non certified means it might not have LP tanks installed that meet 1-5 above. making their risks higher. Insurance companies dont like higher risk; particularly one's they cant plan for nor mitigate thru a certification/meets set standards system. (certification standards in US is is via RVIA. There is one small new org. that is trying to step up and certify home built campers once they prove they meet or exceed same standards of NFPA-1192 as used by RVIA. It is called NOAH)
@TRCa51
@TRCa51 27 күн бұрын
Yes on 1 and 2 and that why I'm building a box air tight vented to the outside at the lowest point.This is my 4th self built and have never even been questioned on a self built camper as I'm sure there is a rule as you stated. If you show up at a park looking clean and professional I have never been questioned. I have seen school busses builds turned away at about a 50% rate. The ones that got in had a roof raise and looked really nice. For the most part I camp on forrest service land or BLM but hard to do at the coast in Ca! Thank you so much for taking the time to comment and bring up some very valid points!

Thank you so much! I really appreciate you taking the time to reach out! As far as solid mounting the box not one regret at all! You do have to take a new account. My frame is a half inch thick and double stacked for the wrecker. I’m welded up front to the bulkhead that used for airlift and then bolted down the sides nine places 2 feet apart. Really allows the suspension to work really well on the truck. I just got done with an inspection after my last off-road trip. Zero issues and would do it this way again! Hope this helps. That is good to hear! I was on your side when you solid mounted it. I don't have that tough wrecker frame, so I will have to use captured spings. Another question: what thickness 2x2 square steel tube did you use for your walls and roof? 1/8"?

@user-ob4dp7ov2r the outside corners I did 8 inch and every 2 foot on center I use 2 x 2 by .065. The main frame rails are 2 x 2 by quarter wall. All the stringers coming out to form the flatbed are .188.
