No it's not well explained... Isn't that money invested in the stock market???? It's not just a savings account right???? And she didn't mention **vesting... Back in the 90s when I worked in a warehouse you had to be *vested in order to get 100% of the money back.. that was a year threshold like 5 years or 10 years before you were said to be fully vested* 😢
@HRPartyofOne20 сағат бұрын
Hi Marcus, thank you for your comment. You are right that we should cover vesting, so I have added that in for a future FAQ that will then be linked to this episode. And to answer your question, 401(k)s are not invested in the stock market automatically, but some platforms, such as Ubiquity, do make it easier for people to see how the account grows with regular contributions. I recommend reaching out to an advisor, who can use the money invested in your 401(k) to invest in stocks.

So, you take a proportion of my wages and withhold it from me, not reducing any tax due because it gets taxed at the end, and if I want to take my money back any time you rob me of 10%? That doesnt seem a very good deal to me, why can I not receive my whole salary and do as I wish with my own money? And if the employer thinks I am worth a few more dollars, why can I not get that employer contribution paid to myself? If I die before 60 I lose the lot, I'd rather have it all while still young enough to enjoy it. Or invest it myself, up to me. Government ponzi scheme, give me my money.

Take it from a division manager who has been on the receiving (early in my career) and giving end (recently in my career) of a PIP - Performance improvement plans are NOT designed for you to improve. You’re essentially being shown the door with courtesy. 1. Do your best 2. Get ahead of it and find another job Follow those two steps and you’ll land softly. I’m sorry to you and your family you’re going through this.

Would you make a video or answer questions on deducting available PTO for salaried employees when employees miss "mandatory" meetings or training provided at the expense of the company? What is the process (or is there one) for deducting for one half day when the salaried employee who is not sick or injured decides to not show up for a mandatory training or meeting?

Hm, this is a great question. Would you mind putting it in our community, so we can come back to it with other HR professionals and create a video to answer? Here is the membership link: help.bernieportal.com/portal/en/signup

What happens when your job doesnt honor their own policy. For instance . We ask for a day or 2 off in the time they require...and their policy says we will be given 2 weeks notice for the approval or denial . This is a joke, sometimes we get 4 days notice.

Can we discuss how the current payment structure primarily benefits the company? If HR is in charge of cost management and you feel this is you doing your job, that's fine, but I think weekly payments should be the norm because of less tax being withheld. Having $900 taken out of my bi-weekly check versus $300 taken out weekly would benefit my household the most. If this incurs more processing fees, the company should accommodate it considering how hard their employees work, especially since many rarely get bonuses and we don't get paid for the commute to and from work. Any complaints from HR or finance about switching to weekly payments would be odd to me because it means an extra $60-$100o or more going into their pockets, depending on their salary.

HR is the enemy of the worker and the shield of the management. If you have been mistreated by your company, do not contact HR: they are there to help the company, not you. Contact a lawyer.

The current salary level of $35,568 a year works out to $17.10 per hour for a 40 hour week. This is slightly above the planned minimum wage in some states. At 50 hours a week, the same salary level of $35,568 a year falls to $13.68 an hour. It is regrettable that the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938 did not have an inflation clause built in, and corporate America takes full advantage of that.
