How many spell slots will a level 4 alchemist have?
31:15 Knocking them prone really doesn't unless you have other martials who can benefit. And that depends on initiative order, if the creature that was knocked prone goes before your melee allies it's just reduced movement. Also helping you melee allies who are alreayd outdamaging you do so even more is not groing to feel great. And it's also assuming that the party doesn't have a better way to get advantage, which when you have arogue, why not? If there is a rogue in the party someone really should pick up faerie fire.

Ooh, since you asked, I would be most excited to see you do updates to your series on underused weapons (Whippoorwill, Needler, whatever that slingshot/Crusher build was called, &c) as well as maybe a seperate video speaking on your opinions on which weapons got the biggest buffs and nerfs given Weapon Mastery, GWM being nerfed, how cool it is to have a 15 ft+ reach under easily achievable conditions &c &c. Have a really wonderful day, and thanks for making the world a little bit kinder by being in it! 💖

24:30 One per level wpuld have been fine if it was somehting you consistently got to do but nope it's 3 extra damage against a single target every combat at best. Even at level 20 its' 20 extra damage per combat. Edit: Ok if you cna get a second sneak attack it's twice your rogue level per combat. It's still supwer low.
@DaDunge20 сағат бұрын
23:00 I really don't like the extra weapon damage. I'm sorry but at best it's your rogue level in extra damage per combat. That's nothing. I really wish they'd have gone with being allowed to sneak attack more than once per round so long as the target hasn't taken a turn yet.

Crusher, Piercer & Slasher being in the PHB is a big deal! That will really help to cement & differentiate the weapons & the weapon damage types.

I don't know if wotc addressed this at some point, but why keeping Rogue 2nd subclass features at lvl 9? It just feels so late
@DnDDeepDive20 сағат бұрын
Yeah it's a bummer - I think the main reason was so the 2024 stuff could stay "backwards compatible" with 2014 rules subclasses

Just wanted to share some insight on the comparison of this to Colby’s other builds because I know someone is going to hear “Tier 4” and immediately think “weak”. This was a straight build and Colby (he even admits this) is a notorious multiclasser. Those other builds utilized things like pally smites on crits while also using abilities from other classes as well. So him comparing it to the old builds should definitely taken with a grain of salt. I suspect he could have jacked those numbers way higher if he had free rein to go class hopping. And speaking directly to Colby here: Keep up the great work and enjoy the family vacation. You’ve more than earned it. Be seeing you in the next video you share. Much love brother.

So rogue 7 is the new rogue 11 when it comes to where to cut off and stay multiclassed. My favorite class is rogue but I'd probably never go high level.
@optimus220023 сағат бұрын
If they have said whenever you use snak attack you can add 1d6 damage for each condition the target have that would have been preeeeemooo then those new cunning strike features would have really shined

Very possible, but also, you're not necessarily going to need two origin feats for every build. /shrug

As a paladin main I am sad about the divine smite changes, but from what I have seen so far most changes are pretty good! I would love to see a eldritch knight updated build! I think the EK can benefit a lot from the new weapon masteries and second wind changes.

I really wish the cunning strike didn`t cost your sneak attack damage and instead had an option that increased the damage by 1d6. Something like: "Whenever you hit with your Sneak Attack you can choose one: Disarm, Poison, Withdraw, Trip or Extra d6" It's more of a psychological thing, not really a buff. Just a way of saying "see this new feature? you will be using it every round and it will always give you something nice"
@chrishousenick6105Күн бұрын
I think the one thing you could have mentioned is that rogue has no resource expenditures for sneak attack, while paladins and fighters and barbarians all have limited uses of smites, action surges, and rages. Rogues cannot keep up damage-wise if there is only one combat encounter per day, but if the party is in an endurance challenge, fighting half a dozen times between rests, rogues would match up well with the martial classes.

47:32 Your friendly banter with @TreantmonksTemple gets me every time 😂 Taking Resilient Con at level 12, Skilled wouldn't be a bad feat at level 16 to raise Con to 18 and get another Expertise and Skill Proficiency for Reliable Talent.
@user-eo6gx4re7jКүн бұрын
Seems unfair to compare this 2024 build to the nova builds of 2014 (which I would assume make use of multi-smites, GWM, Sharpshooter, action surge spells, and twin spells; all of which have been nerfed)
@shoulung6203Күн бұрын
I think you’re going to see all your martial builds are going to drop in damage with the loss of sharpshooter and great weapon master.
@shoulung6203Күн бұрын
Surprised you didn’t pick up the current version of magic initiate for booming blade, seems like it would scale better than your second weapon attack.
@DnDDeepDiveКүн бұрын
At level 5, booming blade would do an extra d8 to one attack (4.5 on average) as opposed to a second attack doing d6+dex (8.5 on average). Considering that having advantage on two attacks greatly increases our chances of landing a successful sneak attack, surprise strikes, et al, even when booming blade scales to 2d8 on a hit at level 11, a second attack is just better. Considering that magic weapons exist in game and you'll likely have a really nice second weapon at level 17, it even makes sense to keep taking the attack action at level 17 when booming blade goes to 3d8 at most enemy ACs and depending on your weapon.

Great vid as always. Big oof on the changes though. One of my favorite combos is Assassin 3/Gloom Stalker 3 for those autocrits, and my player who has that character is in a solo campaign with me, so she almost always has a surprise round, since one person is easier to make that happen with.

I am really curious how much damage the less optimized characters can do vs the most optimized characters. This ph24 has really been about rebalancing the game to bring the outliers closer to the main pack so getting a baseline build for each class as a newbs first optimization comparison point to the hyper optimized you are known for could be really interesting. I really am excited for the new phb

I am sure rules lawyers will find a way to make this really good in niche situations, but as someone that has not played in a long time, this seems extremely weak compared to pretty much every other class.
