I don't mow at all anymore. My perennials are lush, fully canopied and outcompete the grasses with the exception being winter rye, which I treat the same as the other perennials because it reseeds itself so well and adds so much cover for the deer and vertical support for the tall clovers and alfalfa.

I believe I left you a voicemail if I had the right number. I am from Rome NY close to Westmoreland. My three dogs escaped earlier today. Sadly one has already been hit by a car and didn’t make it. We are so so desperate to bring the other two home. Everyone has been suggesting you.

@@MaloneNYDeerhunter1 dogs are not obligatory carnivores like all cats are. They are still carnivores, but can be opportunistic omnivores. There is nothing unusual in your video but it's still fun to see. Cattail stalks can be dried and ground into a "famine flour" or eaten like celery. The roots can make a decent kind of flour any time of year, if you have a way to dig into frozen ground. This time of year is awful for collecting and taste tho. Mid-late spring you can find young shoots that taste like celery/cucumber hybrid. There's always that 0.1% chance that someone could read this and remember it in a dire emergency. It would be cool if you made an update video explaining what they're doing and why, and maybe even explain the benefits for humans. Knowledge of edible plants is just as important as being able to hunt and process meat. Most people think all they need is a gun to survive and they are dead wrong. Plus, it's fun to supplement a wild caught fish dinner with exotic mushrooms and local plants that most people have never heard of.
