I am a 35 years old male I have osteoarthritis in my right knee. 50% damage to my meniscus. An ACL that was replaced in 2008 that is now on The edge if completely failing on me. I'm struggling to work. I'm struggling to walk without slipping any time I extend my leg. Is there any advancements in knee replacement in the past 7 years? I'm completely terrified that they will chop everything out and I will not be any better than I am now. I am struggling to keep a positive outlook

Total hip replacement your advised not to do both, I hope it’s not the same for resurfacing. Apparently when they are banging in the second one to other one becomes loose and will give problems

I had my resurfacings inserted - the right in 1999 and the left in 2000 at the Hartshill Orthopaedic Hospital in Stoke on Trent - by Mr Charles Wynn-Jones FRCS. I have had no trouble or pain whatsoever from either of them and I can recommend resurfacing as a solution to hip-joint pain. I presented with hip dysplasia and uneven-length legs. Mr Wynn-Jones was able to correct my leg length and this automatically corrected my gait, minimising the stress on my hips in the process.

I have two BHRs, one done when I was 50 and the other 5 yrs later. I am now 63 and very active every day! Just to be rid of the constant pain was wondrous and then to have the added benefit of 'like new' movement is fabulous. Both were done at my local hospital in Miramichi, NB, Canada with chief ortho surgeon Dr Andrew Clark out of Moncton, NB. I have an older cousin who lives in Ontario who had both hips done five years apart and five years prior to mine by a Dr Smith at MacMaster Univ Hosp in Hamilton, ON. He has bicycled completely across Canada at least twice since then......over 8000 kms one way. Life is good! Thank you all....

Hi Folks ... I Visited Mr McMinn 21 Years Ago With Both My Hips Completely Gone ... I Was Extremely Lucky To Be Informed That Mr McMinn Had Fully Trained A Local Surgeon From The Pilgrim Hospital In Boston ( Mr John Watson) ... By This Time I Had Suffered For 3 Years Of Agonizing Hip Pain ... However, After A Number Of Attempts To Try And Persuade Mr Watson To Carry Out What Is A Bilateral BHR Hip Replacement, Which Is Both Done At The Same Time, I Eventually Had My Wicked Way ... I'm Now 20 Years Down The Line And Just Getting A Slight Discomfort In My Right Hip Hence Me Being On This Site Again ... I Just Can Not Believe How Pain Free I've Been Over The Years ... No One Ever Wants To Be Afraid Especially If Your In The Pain I Was Suffering ... Good Luck & God Bless Anyone Needing The BHR ... Geoff Rylott Ages 73 . . .

At 12:00 you tell that the side of the femoralnec is important to know... I have a extreme big femoralnec (CAM) a pistolgrip, is that a problem? Is it still possible to have a hip resurfacing with a big hip?

Hello Mr Van De Donk, hip resurfacing is possible with a pistol grip deformity however we would not be able to give an opinion until we had seen your individual case. Please email [email protected] if you would like any further information.

Thank you for the information.. I visited in 2015 the Belgium Dr. Koen de smet.. I'm now collecting and saving money for the surgery.. In Holland it's not allowed and medical insurance won't pay for it so I'm trying to get working for the surgery, it's very hard living and working with the pain and depression but I really believe in hip resurfacing and I hope in 3 or 4 years to get the money.

There can only be one, the Birmingham hip resurfacing is the best... Don't get confused by the cheap replica's (the ASR dePuy for example).. And the experience of the surgeons I have over 10 friends with BHR and all doing amazing great... Al the failures are done by young Unexperience surgions with no international qualifications and copy's. Unfortunately many countries have quite these operations. We have to fight for it

What exactly are your credentials, Mr. Jones? Have you ever had hip pain requiring a replacement? I'll bet you haven't. They've done 10's of thousands of these, and everyone going in knows the risks. How about you go be outraged elsewhere.
@andrewroussey37233 жыл бұрын
@@royvandedonk2429 I take a bit of issue with this unequivocal statement, though I agree the the Birmingham is ONE of the best. I just had my second one done (first one 8 years ago) by Dr. Gross in South Carolina, using a Biomet implant, with both the acetabular cup AND femoral component being uncemented. First one is going strong. Dr. Gross has done well over 6,000 with total documentation of his results. I also agree that this surgery HAS to remain available for young people.
