You probable stayed in the cabin on Burnett Bay North which is located South of Cape Caution. The one at Cranstown Point was built about 5 years ago. It was a fantastic trip. Pictures are at photos.app.goo.gl/xZtCdE1upcsBS9RUA

Ive paddled some of this, in 2006 I did Port Hardy to Bella Bella (I think I stayed in that cabin for a couple of days) We were going north and had to wait for a week just south of cape caution, for the conditions to improve. Looks like a great paddle.

Oh! What a diamond buried on the internet! I've seen several interesting techniques. 1. At 0:08 I believe Patti tries to duck dive a wave and demonstrates that many times this is not a good idea, contrary to the surfers with their very low volume tables a kayak has a lot of volume and the drag of the kayaker is not enough to cross the wave and you get surfed upside down. 2. Just later, I am quite impressed how she rolls the kayak with a high brace while back surfing. Good technique! 3. At 1:10 how difficult it is to hold on your kayak if you swim on the surf zone, many people don´t know. It is a problem I have when I swim, if I hold my paddle in one hand and take firmly the grab of the kayak with the other hand I am not able to hold the kayak if a rather big wave arrives. Don´t know the solution yet, may be try not to swim, but this is easy to say.

You are correct, not a mistake 🙂 It is a skill that Patti and I practice in surf and in currents. It helps for body awareness and to deal with the unexpected. You never know what the sea will toss at you 😉

Dear Yves, if I'm not wrong, your kayak is a WS Zephyr 160. I'm willing to get one used in my area, and would like to know what I've to take into account when trying it before getting it. I'm 5'8" and 220 pounds. Thanks beforehand. Hugo
@gokayakseakayakinstruction81243 жыл бұрын
Hello Hugo. It is a low back deck boat so if you are planning to do self re-entries (rescues) in rough water, at 5'8" and 220 pounds, if you have gear in it, it might be difficult to re-enter and pump the water out. Check if the adjustable thigh braces will fit you. It is a very comfortable seat with a low back rest. When well adjusted, it fits very good. Good enough for a weekend camping trip with minium amount of gear. More than a weekend, you may run out of room. Make sure you are happy with the amount back support you can get from the back rest. On a positive note, I love the boat, very playful and responsive. Very good in rough water, currents, surf, etc. and very easy to roll.
@hugoblancosimon50933 жыл бұрын
@@gokayakseakayakinstruction8124 thanks. No, the only gear I'm thinking to stow in the rear deck is the paddle float, and even that could be stowed in the fore deck too together with the hand pump.
