Why buy a fancy tool when you can just screw a 2x4 to the wall as a ledger board to hold the uppers up before you do the lowers.
@jlgwoodworking31572 ай бұрын
One it’s not fancy or expensive, two I’m a professional so having useful tools isn’t bad and three what if you can’t screw a 2x4 to the wall then what? You can continue to screw 2x4s, we stoped doing that back in 89

@jlgwoodworking31573 ай бұрын
What about them ? They are doweled into the floor and held in by fillet pieces on the handrail? What’s wrong they are 3 1/2 OC. The stairs passed inspection and are beyond code. I’m curious what you possibly can see wrong in this reel that just them being set
@jlgwoodworking31573 ай бұрын
Balusters, spindles, sticks they have many names. I’ve never heard them referred to as slats but if that’s what you want to call them to each his own

Couldn't you just make a taller third hand so you could install the uppers before the lowers thus keeping the lowers out of your way while installing the uppers?
@jlgwoodworking31573 ай бұрын
I have the taller one but this is much easier. Also by setting lowers first you ensure that your cabinet heights are correct so when you add crown molding your revel on top to the ceiling is perfect

Good tip, but use a longer piece of wood. Holding a small piece like that is dangerous for anyone, but moreso for someone not experienced. You can use a longer board to hold the short one.
@jlgwoodworking31573 ай бұрын
We use what we have on hand , for us it’s not a problem but for less experienced people I agree 100% use a bigger piece
