It's such a little thing, but it always annoyed me in the season intros when you had Duke's voice and you had Flint or Hawk yelling "Yo Joe!" You started off with Duke- you started off right!

That was from the commercial for G.I. Joe #1. No one actually calls him Grand Slam but I assume the two guys in that outfit have to be Flash and Grand Slam. Who knows which is which? 😁

@@marshallwood2968 Yes that did cross my mind a little but something about that version of the song fit better the editing better. Plus this is a “made up” season so it didn’t have to match any existing storyline. The first time I used that version it fit with the Iron Grenadiers being around. Also, the 1983 mini series first used that one and Destro wasn’t really separate from Cobra.

Wow, must have took you quite some time to gather this. I think the Sunbow cartoons still have the best quality of drawing, the 1987 en 1988 toylines would have been great if they had done them.

Damn the animation from those commercials was on point. Too bad the movie failed , else we would have gotten an 87-88 season. Some of the coolest characters which we never got to see on screen.

I think the issue was more that the new studio, DIC, was going to make a much cheaper show and Hasbro passed the license on to them because it cost them less.

Are you sure that wasn't retconed to be an Early Duke in Green as when general hawk appeared in 86 he looked nothing like this version ?

@@marshallwood2968I doubt it. Hawk was portrayed in the comic book wearing olive drab green fatigues and sporting blond hair way back in 1982. (That was long before Duke came on the scene!) The lower quality footage of Hawk was taken from Marvel comic book commercials between 1982 and 1983.

3:30 - Anyone who watched the G.I. Joe animated series from the early 1990s knows that Headman was NOT a Cobra. He was actually a drug kingpin who inspired G.I. Joe and Cobra to briefly join forces to defeat him. Quite impressive, if you ask me!
