I just bought one of these and it failed the first time I used it. The main upright tore away from the base.

Maybe I’m missing some context. But it seems very early in the planning to be choosing the spring per ride height. There is no weight on the back of the truck. I would think the right choice of MAIN SINGLE LEAF should be chosen based on axle location and leaf spring mount locations. Not based on how high the chassis sits when unloaded. I have been going through a similar thought process on my leaf sprung crawler build

I know this is an older video, but from what I can tell I have a forward shift in my truck (87 4x4 G52 trans). According to Trail gear I would need to either modify my transmission shifter or get a short throw shifter to not cause interference between the sticks. Any input? I’m not running dual cases. All factory for now .

@@SnailTrail4x4 Well, the headlights you linked in the video still get good reviews, so I figured it was a good way to go. So, you made a few bucks from your Amazon Affiliate membership links today. I use affiliate marketing myself for my Timmy the Toolman channel. I thought about making my own video on this subject, but I won't do that to you. When I feel I have something useful to offer the community, I will make my own video, but I can't really improve upon what you showed in this video other than maybe offering some better camera angles. I don't like ripping off other people's content. People do that to me quite a bit because there's nothing to stop them. Some people have integrity, but a lot of people don't. Good luck with your channel!

haha .. in your video you call your mounted the side steps 'slider' but they are NOT ROCK SLIDER.. you are correct though never use them to lift your truck like with a Hi Lift or any type of jack. TRUE ROCK sliders will be ATTACHED TO THE FRAME and they cost A HELL OF LOT MORE than the side steps you have mounted. I highly recomend you carry in your truck a good bottle jack 6 ton with extender to reach the spot on the frame to lift from, the factory one in the car is a complete useless joke for changing tires.. for off roading.. the Taco 3rd gen is tricky to lift without real rockslider with Hi Lift mounts.. but that is a whole other video. good video though,. for just oil changes, or working under the truck.

spring under technically is better for suspension travel but it does take away ground clearance so its really whats more important to you

My 1981 owner's manual says use a 195 thermostat, but I use a 180 and it comes up to just under a half on the gauge. If you can, get the OEM Toyota temp sensor, the others are foreign knock offs and do not last. Only other thing for overheating is the thermostat and fan clutch.

My LCA bracket to frame has been wallowed out by my by tbh bolt being loose.. do you think using this to get the correct orientation for the bolt would suffice? Perhaps get it welded to the frame as well?

Thanks, but why didn’t you bleed the brake fluid? I know some people don’t bleed the fluid but you don’t want contamination from the pistons go back up the reservoir.

Something that wasnt mentioned is that a ham license and gmrs licenses aree good for 10 years. But with ham radio you have access to an extremely large amount of bandwidth and massive power limits. But if you are in the offroader class or mountain biking groups you are better served using gmrs.

Wondering why you didn't go with the NSV light bar that is designed to mount inside the plastic hood bulge. I didn't have to cut any metal on the truck, it literally takes the place of the black plastic inset you removed.
