Nice job on the race and the recap. Good video quality and good commentary. I did LOTS in 2022 on my fat bike and found it to be the most challenging race I’ve done - legs cramped up real good after the 2nd single track section and I limped into the finish. 😅

Marshal in the middle of the road… seriously? That’s madness, pity you don’t have any telemetry on screen to see how your cadence is and HR… super fast pace.

I live in Hastings and my grandson and his dad did the 36-mile this year. It was my grandson's 3rd time, he had previously done the 18-mile twice. I drove part of the route with my grandson the day before the race but this gave me an idea of what the race was really like. Thanks so much for sharing this. 😀👍AND congratulations on finishing the race with all the difficulties. 👏

At 2:44:17, they're hauling out a short hauler that kissed a tree on the downhill while trying to ride with broken handlebars. Must've been something to see as you're riding through.

Well done! The last part you should've been drafting behind the others for a minute before the sprint. You were already exposed to the headwind for some time before you started sprinting so no wonder you ran out of gas after a few seconds, and yes you sprinted too early 😌 big well done just the same ..... on a mountain bike !! 🤩

Niner hardtail. I can’t remember which version or star it is. Carbon frame and what not. It’s either 2.35 or 2.25 width. Maxxis Aspens I believe I had for this race.

@@bdykstra02 Nice. 2.25 or 2.35 is wide! You are very strong to keep up like that with those good riders on a hardtail. Well done 👍 and keep it up man ☮️🥇🚲

Well done. You are strong AF. IMO, if you were on a drop bar gravel bike you could have probably won this race. The watt savings and aero benefits alone would've put you on the overall podium.

Nice recap. You riding style is very similar to me, just more fitness haha. Definitely frustrating having to run chunks of that final climb. That last little step up root usually claims a rider or two even when there isn't back markers from the short race. I try sit back a little farther so I can get a clean run at that and continue to ride.

Great recap- Barry- is that what it looks like in the front? LOL Keeping on the gas requires a level of physical fitness, but holding back and knowing your limitations takes a lot of internal discipline as well. I think that your perspective on having a good time and enjoying the race is interesting and insightful. Keep up the good work.
