This was a great series. I have even less trust of Russians now.

A Welshman playing a Russian, playing an American takes a ton of talent alone.😊 Any time I see Annette now, I think about the story of when she recieved her final script.😢 The story of when she found out Nina's fate and cried as if she were Nina and her mom had to remind her, you are not Nina. I imagine that would be a really strange feeling and it would feel like a part of you had died, especially if it comes as a surprise.(its been awhile, but Im pretty sure it came as a shock😢)

Thanks to the algorithm, I've been fed The Americans clips for the past month. I finally bought the DVD box set and I'm just starting season one, savoring each episode because the comments so often state that people wish they could watch it for the first time again. The interviews just reinforce that Keri and Matthew are really likable people - but their characters may not be!

Even if this is a tv drama it scares the shit out of me that our enemies have installed many of these duplicitous monsters in our society.....I hope that Russia and China now realize that freedom is the only path for peace

I thought it was funny in the pilot when Philip was explaining to Elizabeth that America isn't so bad and said "The food's great, electricity works all the time, closet space"

@@concreteman03 Good point. And the excellent retro aspect of the series had some funny moments. But overall, if the cold war was 1/2 as bad as it was depicted, I found terrifying. I may have taken a career path in law enforcement had I been more aware of the World back in those times.

Strikes me as typically American that 2010 would be considered a long time ago, both in 2016 when this conversation happened, and now, when I am writing it.

And English isn't even his first language. He grew up speaking Welsh. He told this story about the casting process for "The Americans": He came in and started to read with his natural Welsh accent. He didn't think he would have much of a chance, because he wasn't "a big name" back then, but he got the job. They told him, they knew he was right for the role, when they heard him do the whole bit with an authentic Russian accent. At first he was confused and thought about telling them, that this was in fact Welsh... but then he just said, "Yeah, uhm... that's totally what I did: Russian accent!" 🤣🤣🤣
