Why is it that every place there is something wrong with the state city town community or something i just learn theres always something bad no matter where you go i can always find a reason to not like something and people just keep the places so bad for others to experience its so sad how ppl really always have bad to say about a place i think the ppl were good ppl in south Carolina

I don’t think any one place is “bad”, it’s just not for everyone. All of these things come down to perspective, and there are people that will like an area for certain things and people that won’t like an area for certain things. Good and bad is a matter of perspective.

I have lived in the upstate of South Carolina for 45 years and I have never heard a tow truck called a hooker. Columbia is a whole different world than the rest of SC. And no, we are not the same here neither is the food if you wanted the same you should have stayed where you were.

Maybe it’s only Schroeder's towing, who’s the most advertised towing company locally in the midlands haha I dunno.. The food has gotten quite a bit more diverse since I moved here in 2015, so we are not far off anymore.

I know this is going to sound weird I just sold my home on Long Island to move to Pickens County South Carolina, it took nearly 9 months to sell my home. That’s after a buyer put down money on the house. It was a special case the person who bought my home, took a 50% loan from a bank and the government gave them a 50% grant but with all that extra paperwork and legwork it took nine months which almost financially ruined me and my wife. For reasons I would rather not speak about, but yes, New York sucks

I would say the worst thing in SC is the often oppressive level humidity. But i guess some people enjoy it so it could be a positive. Less wildfires👍

I’ve lived in both Columbia and Myrtle Beach areas. My opinion is this: if you have school age children, Columbia area is better, specifically Lexington County (Chapin or the River Bluff HS area of Lexington). Blythewood in Richland County is also good. There are other good schools, but it varies by district. Myrtle Beach area is a mixed bag. Better to retire there after kids are grown. In my opinion, best places are Pawleys Island, Murrells Inlet, and North Myrtle Beach.

Your numbers are off. You write off up tp 10k in property taxes. You write off up to 750k in morgag instead if you are married. I own 47 rentals and two carwashes in SC.

I think you have to understand the perspective that I’m coming from. Clearly, you are a savvy investor that has done this many times and understands. But I literally get calls from Californians every single month that see the prices of a house in South Carolina and expect to get a secondary residence loan at 8% interest rate and somehow cash flow hundreds if not $1000 a month.. I’m not a CPA, so I’m not gonna dive into tax write offs and incentives, as any true investor should know these things. But as you can imagine, HGTV and so many others have made this seem like the new get rich quick scheme and people’s perspective is skewed vs reality.

I purchased a new home in Lake Carolina in April 2023. My home builder just completed a new home across the street from me, same model with more upgrades and closed for 30K less then what I paid. This doesn’t include any incentives for rate buy downs or closing costs.

My guess is you live in Woodleigh Park? If you are in the Eastwood section, they had a difficult time selling the last models as their yards were not great, I showed them multiple times and the buyers choose the Mungo Homes. They significantly dropped prices to sell and still are. Or the houses on the lake that have to pay lake dues, but do not actually get lake access nor can they have a dock. If you are referring to Mungo, I had only seen their prices going up, so I would have to know which house.

You often hear the term "The rural south". It's a common reference. But as you say it depends on where you are coming from and that makes "rural" subjective. If you are coming from SoCal or Long Island NY, it's rural. If one comes to SC from smaller town Maine, Pennsylvania, or Minnesota its almost laughable by comparison.

The largest project we have, I-26/I-20 corridor 10-Year Plan which was established in July 2017. I get your point that the infrastructure bill has helped continue progress, but you can't give all the credit to it.
