Such a great review. I’m very stressed out trying to find if it’s possible to homeschool my two daughters of very different ages together for history. I have a 10th grader and 3rd grader next school year. Do you think I can do this curriculum? I wouldn’t know how. My mama heart wants to homeschool them together for at least one subject 😢

This was such a great review. We love MOH and I’ve been wondering about the printable resources. We have both the old text and new colored text editions so we’ve been working with the program that way. Just subscribed. I also have a channel and would love to be friends and connect. Looking forward to watching more of your videos!

Thanks for sharing this! I am currently using the 5th grade Spell and Write for my reluctant learner and it's really fantastic. We do use this as our spine curriculum and supplement with videos, independent readers and online lessons. I love how the units are set up and that it includes Grammar in the 5th grade along with the writing, spelling and vocabulary. My son really enjoys the stories they chose for the unit themes are just perfect and the way they do spelling works the best we've found for my boy so far.

Lol I remember doing the peanut butter and jelly instructions thing in church youth group as a kids it was gross because nobody ever remembered to include the instruction to use a spoon or knife. Great video very helpful. I'm bummed Evan Moore only goes to sixth grade honestly just found it this year for my son and he's doing awesome with it but he's already in 5th oh well. Thanks for the fantastic video!

I just discovered your channel and I am planning to binge watch it tonight! My eldest is a rising third grader and he sounds so similar to yours son! Mine is a visual and kinesthetic learner who needs to have fun while learning…he is also a reluctant writer. This past year I had mostly black and white workbook style curriculum….it wasn’t a completely failed year (almost! 😂) but I am on the hunt for fun, colorful curriculums that are kind of outside of the box. He likes logic/game type stuff as well. Thank you for the videos you have posted! I’m sure looking through them will help provide me with some great ideas.

I thought I knew what I wanted for history but kept second-guessing my choice. I am back at square one now and just wanted to say thank you for doing this, for going into detail, and for all the links you posted. I still don't know what we are going to wind up using but this has been so helpful. Thank you 😊

I do have questions and this may get long sorry. I have a child with dyslexia he's 13 his reading and spelling we are working on. Back story he was in public school I thought he was getting extra help and it turns out I was the only one working with him at night. I pulled him in 5th grade and had him tested. He was reading at a first grade level and spelling was 1st/2nd grade level. What floors me is how much public school DONT teach he barely knew his states and capitals and only had a little state history. So that is the shortened version of what's going on I'm working with him and we have tutors for math and grammar also helping. My question is yes he's 13 however in your honest opinion would this be a good place to start with history? I know it's geared at younger ages but I'm wondering with his reading struggles and where he's at with spelling if this would be a good start. I absolutely love Notgrass my older son that was also pulled from school is working on government he's really enjoying it.

@robbiegleason4462

I think it's advanced about a grade level. Having an advanced reader as well, I still placed him at grade level because of the themes in the literature, among other things. If you place them at their reading level, you run the risk of literature that has themes they just don't relate to, are too mature, or they just have no interest in. I had rejected the 5th grade level (which was his grade at the time and what I considered more like 6th-grade level) because of the length of the stories and the more mature themes. I felt the vocabulary and the literature elements taught were appropriate for him with Ruby. I'd look at the samples for the various levels and see which one you feel is best for not just his reading level, but also his vocabulary and maturity level. :) That's the great thing about homeschooling is that we teach our kids so we know them well enough to do really customize things like this!

Sorry for the delay in my response! We finished the year of using Cognifit and saw a tremendous improvement in all areas. We didn't continue at the time, but he's using it again this year. I continue to see huge gains in all areas and is now blowing both of our original scores out of the water! Just FYI, this program is no longer available through Timberdoodle, so it will have to be purchased directly from Cognifit.

We use dimensions math(singapore math) for 4th grade and 2nd grade if your looking still. They go through 8th grade and idk about hight school. Colorful and for advanced math, read the concept then do the lesson. Then test at end of unit. They really give you great ways to learn the concepts and that paint a picture in your head. Maybe look at it.
