The unsuccessful are the first to criticize. Renee Fleming has done more to bring classical music and opera to the masses than anyone else hence her being the people’s diva. She’s my diva and she’s not ever not absolutely divine. She’s a beautiful woman too and that is what brings out the negative comments more than any technical issues. I am sure if she sounded the exact same but was 300 lbs and looked liked Almira Gulch these same “critics” would hail her as a genius. She gives me goosebumps every single time and I just love her and I and so glad she’s America’s Soprano. She’s a gift to the world!

I still vividly remember her appearing on German television in the 1970s and 1980s.

She is excellent here, but much better in an earlier video of Trovatore starring Pavarotti and Marton. There you could hear her powerful chest voice. Not here at the same extent.

This set of French Arias is what introduced me to Sutherland when I was 18. An acquaintance had it on cassette, and played it in the car often. I developed a taste for perfection of sound and musicality with impeccable balance and proportion. Find a note that is out of line with the rest in color, volume or duration anywhere. I challenge anyone. There is no ego . Only music.

Le rôle à été écrit par Jules Massenet ,expressément pour la grande Sybil Sanderson ,fabuleuse coloratura américaine qui pouvait chanter sur plus de trois octaves .

I'd never mistaken Corelli's voice with any other voices! He is my favorite forever great Italian artist and opera singer! From the first note his voice captures me with it's unbelievably resonating, viral and beautiful timbre, I enjoy and want to stay in his voice magical "captivity", wishing it will never ends! I see every performance of any great singer as a battle. Our two, great idols - La Callas and Corelli always won this "battle" for High B -C notes and astounded the audience by their decisive, incomparable and powerful delivery of them. Greatest Corelli took his High-C "by storm" like a warrior without hesitation and sent the vibes of rapture into the audience hearts. And my heart, as well of course. He was an incredible singer, charismatic artist and modest, noble man! Corelli and Callas were both a gift from Heavens to all of us...

A miracle. She was the ideal Elsa, the ideal “Anything written by Wagner”. And btw she litteraly looks like Elsa on the paintings of Neuschwanstein. She's a romantic fresco that starts to sing.

Not Brunhilde... not my favourite... Astrid under Knap is unbeatable for me... I also love her in this kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bNKPrZWnm5fDYXU.html and this is my most favourite recording of hers: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fp6nm8WTzMq0ZWQ.html

@@LohengrinO (I knew it was going to be discussed haha. For me she's also the best Brunhilde, but that's a matter of taste, and I understand that one has other preferences, especially if it's Varnay of course.) Thanks so much for these two links. I am speechless. It's from another world.

В чем велика Каллас, так в том, что слушая ее с закрытыми глазами, видишь все, что происходит на сцене, она не только велика в пении, но еще в том, что умеет затронуть самые сокровенные струны любой души!

2:06 I have to comment again. After hearing this last year, I sought and found a copy of her complete Elektra( she is Chrysanthamis). Her hauntingly complex timbre really demonstrates the soul of that character as well.

Thrilling, mesmerizing. Beautiful! Windgassen is a benchmark. His voice is much clearer than Kaufman’s, who muffles/darkens more. Which makes Windgassens German supremely understandable. I saw Lohengrin twice last season, at DNO, starring Daniel Behle as Lohengrin. Surprisingly satisfying too. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qdZynNyersnJeY0.htmlfeature=shared

Corelli was good in his rep. He was not that great because he could not sing Handel, Mozart and earlier music with so much ornamentation nearly as well as others. To be GREAT one would have to excell at all styles. Callas qualified !
