Nice tutorial on the basics of reverb. I thought I'd point out that putting reverb straight on a track and putting it on a return track and sending a signal to it are entirely different things on ableton. Sending a signal to return track will still let the dry signal pass through to the master as well as the wet reverb signal. Putting it on a the track directly will only send the wet signal to the master. So essentially you can do either option but they are not the same thing.

I've tried Push 3 Standalone after all the hype. And I have a similar impression, I just don't understand why I need it. It just makes everything slower and less intuitive. Standalone part is also not really what I imagined: very glitchy, only good for basically loading premade stuff and triggering it, it's too cumbersome to create a piece from start to finish on it, the battery life is completely awful (it's drained even when it's switched off), it's hot like hell and super heavy... So I'm in the process of returning it now.

Anyone know how to actually go in a do precise cuts? like cut out a single drum? I used to do this in every other DAW and with ableton it feels like everythings a riddle and I cant actually make whats in my mind, I just have to let the program decide what I can do. If i have a recording of a couple bars of drums, I wanna zoom in, scalpel out each drum, rearange them, ect.

Put the sample in the arrangement view and just cut it out the samples that you want. If you want to then use them drag the individual sounds into new midi tracks to have them be in simpler to play. I’m pretty sure you can also select all the samples and then right click to have them imported all into a drum rack also

I would like to know how to do this with a VST plugin. The bass im using is on arcade. It is basically a synthesizer with premade sounds. I will try and figure out how to do it, but if anybody knows please help.

Ableton push2 is not a sound source, not sure why you want it portable? For that get an akai force. Its a beast. Push2 is a surface controller for specific application use cases, like live looping or dedicated knobs for fx. I still search for sounds using mouse. But foremost am a synth player who uses it for scene launching and loop triggering. Not one finger chord playing with pads or browsing vst patches.

TY so much. We are about to start recording in our home studio we are building in our finished basement. One of the 1st things I wanted know about recording was what you are showing us here. You are teaching it in a very simple yet powerful way, that I can grasp what you are teaching- unlike soooo many other video's I have searched. Most of those guys are trying to show off their knowledge and start teaching as if you already know what they know. They are showing off, therefore they are not TEACHING. YOU are teaching. Ty again.
