Goodness....this was given to me as a gift in about 2018 or 2019. It has lived in the box since (I'm not a watch wearer). I finally had an event where a nice watch would have been nice to wear. I tried to follow the instructions on how to wind it, but no luck. Is there a trick to winding it?

There should be a plastic bit on the top of the clock which you pull out to activate the alarm. the star type dial on the back sets the alarm time and if you pull it out you can set the time

Thank you for all the content on this watch. Your videos were a big reason I picked up a green dial today while vacationing in Japan. Bic Camera (chain store) offers a 15% discount to tourists if you provide your passport and pay with a Visa credit card. The Salesman was very adamant in his best broken English that the Atomic clock wouldn’t work outside of Japan. For $301 OTD I think I can live with that!

I have an identical clock bought from Ernest Jones a few years ago. Been going well until yesterday when it had a breakdown and wouldn't stop chiming. I have managed to pacify it and it is back on track. Unable to fix it as there's nothing to fix. Hope it remains calm from hereon in!

There actually is a lot of metal in the combi bracelet besides the clasp. The Chinese version weighs 24 g and the Casio weighs 56g. The difference is metal. The combi bracelet is much more comfortable than the resin bands, especially if any perspiration is involved.

Well I have Braun watch and it's good for its price (if you buy it on Amazon or so). And it's OK if you are not watch nerd and seen something better. But even for $100-120 you can get something a way better like Orient Bambino (well, it's $170 but automatic) or Seiko 5. I hate 2 things most of all in this quartz Braun: caseback (it's impossible for me to open it easily and not make BIG scratches) and movement (especially it's very power hungry: you need to replace battery maybe once per year). Oh and that not standard strap and it's quality. For newer automatic watch they ask $530 with NH35 inside. I personally think it's a lot.

I was seriously considering buying this watch 2 years ago but on further investigation couldn't afford all the stress with the emulator app to synchronise it and popping the crown out to adjust it, for me it was far too much hassle and very complicated. Instead I went for the Seiko Astron GPS Solar, yes it is more expensive, but it's a watch you set and forget. But I also own a Citizen Promaster Tough BN0211-50E for my recreational activities.🤗

Sorry to hear this but: 1) any homebrew JJY emulation solution is quite unstable by design, it doesn't have anything to do with the watch ability to sync - I always treat this as an experimental thing that can and will take some time to work properly with a lot of trial and error for any particular setup; 2) seals are usually not a big deal and they can be obtained from third parties (or even DIY'ed with the help of some silicone grease), although yes, this is why I usually prefer screw-down casebacks to press-on casebacks: again, not a big deal on a Bambino but important here if you really need that WR200 rating; 3) the second hand on my PMD56-2951 hits every single marker but I wouldn't worry at all if it didn't or stops doing that in the future, as long as it keeps accurate time overall. Heck, I think there is a reason why they made the second markers on the inset and not flat on the dial, so that there would be an excuse for them not to reach those markers; 4) I'm not going to open up my PMD56 myself unless there really is a problem with the battery, motor or the quartz crystal itself.

As a fresh PMD56-2951 owner (as well as a long-term AS2050-10E owner but that's a bit different story), I can fully confirm that this setting is NOT related to timezones at all. In the European manuals for AS2050, it's called "time difference" and is meant for the people who still receive the signal outside the timezone that it's meant to be received in, but want to keep the hours correct relative to the reference point. In case of PMD56, this reference point is JST (UTC+9), so if you're using a JJY emulator that transmits JST time (one of them is my jjy.js/Fukushima library btw) or receive the real JJY signal, the watch will still apply this offset. This is the primary purpose of this function, not just for traveling across different countries. This is why fractional offsets aren't implemented - one is never supposed to receive JJY signal in India, Nepal etc. For those looking for real timezone support, there are other Citizen models.
@GeeBeeMike
@GeeBeeMike 2 ай бұрын
So, just for clarity, if i wear this watch in the UK, so set a -9hour time offset from Tokyo time, if I use a JJY emulator to set atomic time, will the offset be removed by the watch and set it to JJY time, or will it keep the offset I have manually set in the watch? Otherwise every sync it makes on the emulator will reset it to Japan time. Just asking for clarity before I pull the trigger on one.

Imagine being ready to pay crapload of money for a mere stainless steel three-hander without even a date window and then having to go through all sorts of humiliation in order to actually get it. It's just a watch, guys. No gadget on the planet is worth such "guilty until proven innocent" attitude. Artificial scarcity is bad enough, but KYCing at offline places is even worse. Enjoy your dystopia.

I also liked the 8926OB... right until the moment I got an Orient RA-AA0001B. The Invicta started to look lame at this point. But for the price, yes, it's probably the cheapest NH35 you can get that doesn't come straight from a Chinese OEM.

I also have the same Casio GW-B5600BC as yours, but no mods (left with an inverted LCD). This model is what sparked an interest in how the sync is done, and I created my own library in JS to do this (on desktop browsers and KaiOS) back in 2017 and recently converted it to Python.

Curiously, I'm getting the PMD56-2951 (the green dial one) today or tomorrow, and also decided that it will be my exit watch. I'm also thinking on further shrinking my collection to about 5 timepieces: Citizen PMD56, Casio OCW-T200S, Casio GMW-B5000D, Orient RA-AA0001B and Certina DS Caimano Titanium (whose model number I'll never remember).Three of them are solar-powered and longwave-synced, two of them are also Bluetooth-synced, one is HAQ (with under 10 s/year deviation) and one is mechanical but with the ability to regulate at home and keeps nice time after this process. Also, two of them are titanium, three of them have sapphire, three of them have 20 bar WR rating and the other two have 10 bar. But if I only had to keep one of them, it would be this Citizen. Upd. Got it on May 7, definitely is the one.

@@MADTURK61372Yes, it’s a bit similar to ‘Swiss Made’ in that if certain requirements are met they can be marketed as made in Switzerland even though most of the watch is actually made and assembled overseas. In Seiko’s case they have interesting customs and labour laws which mean that if the destination market is Japan, and some minor factory requirements are met, they can put Made in Japan on the dial. These Seiko’s are all made from parts produced in China and then assembled in Malaysia. That’s why they’re affordable. If they were actually made and assembled in Japan they’d be a significantly more expensive watch.
