Using the standard hub and controller you don't need to hold the buttons either, I don't see the point of using Pybricks in this case
@danjotrainsАй бұрын
If you're using a standard train motor, it's true that you don't need to hold the buttons down. But with the large motors and the standard controller, I found that you do have to always keep them pressed and can't increment them. Another solution is to use the Lego Powered Up app.

The only real upgrade for the Orient Express from Lego is the one from Mould King.
@danjotrains2 ай бұрын
The MK version does look fantastic, but it also needs much wider curves to run!
@Chuck_vs._The_Comment_Section2 ай бұрын
@@danjotrains Yes, but the Lego set is much smaller and narrower, has much weaker/more economical printing, is not motorized, not remote-controlled, has no lighting, no steam generator and also costs around €100 more. For a company that claims to be the market leader, this is hard to beat in terms of embarrassment. Compared to Mould King, the LEGO set looks like a botched and childish attempt to build an Orient Express, which is also outrageously expensive.

For 3d printing tolerance issues you can try to fix them by: - heat up with heat gun (or hairdryer) - place it in intended postion - place book + weight on it until it cools This usually fixes my issues about 70% of the time

I like it. A shame we have to go 3rd-party, but better than any true Lego attempt indeed. I have some Trixx as well and I acknowledge, that they are improving. They are still in a learning process so I hope we will get some solid products in the near future. At least they do care about trains, which LEGO lost interest in long time ago. With the occasional exception of some Bricklink sets.

Going to sound harsh but I don't think this was worth going 8 wide for a simple, blocky switcher. Not saying this doesn't look good but it would take a LOT for me to buy something that isn't compatible with any of the trains I already have.
@danjotrains2 ай бұрын
Going 8-wide let me capture the unique look of the cab windows. The SW1200 train itself is a very blocky design, but also one of my favourite diesels 😄 And it fits with other 8-wide trains too, like the Orient Express.

I think if you raised the entire street level up by a few bricks, you could come up with some sort of purist S.N.O.T. technique to fill the gaps using slopes on their sides. I think that would look more uniform than your plate+jumper technique too. I understand however that for most people raising the entire street level of a Lego city by a few bricks would be unreasonable!
