While I truly enjoy the more restrained and “proper” romances of other Regency-era novels, I also much enjoyed this more tumultuous novel of a realistic (and very flawed) married couple and surrounding characters and story line. I feel there is room for both in this genre.

I'd love there to be a sequel to this one! I am really loving this author! She has great heroines! It reminds me a lot of the adventure novels I read as a kid, but for grown-ups! Oh loving this series. Followed Grace from her first appearing in the series way back in Scotland, in , In the Highlanders Bed, Constance & Gordon Lachlan love story. I really hope that the 2nd last book in the series , 'Bedding the Heiress', ( it is the one set before 'In the Highlander's Bed'), is finally posted in audio as it rounds out the stories so we know how Francesca meets Justin the new Duke of Colster, Phillip's born first twin and they fall in love. It is the only book missing from this fantastic set of productions. I am surprised that Richard still doesn't mistrust his father and uncle after what they brazenly did to his cousin. They happily stole and caused problems for that cousin.

Oh goodness, Brian is such a selfish character of a man totally not deserving of a trustworthy good woman. Sadly there are some of us woman who will forgive an unworthy man and in the age this story is written a woman place in life was so much harder.

I've enjoyed many of cathy maxwell books but this book isn't worth it . 3:00:00 and for all 3 hours the heroin has shown herself to be a spoiled pampered brat and that's all. Can not wish her happy life at all she deserves all the misery and more
