Love you're brutal honesty. I'm not half ass second guessing myself. When I decide to do something I fully committ 100% and some. I'm 40 all my life family and friends have always been against joining the ADF. I'm pretty far away from them now and free to make my own choices. I've already started my application and so far I can't wait to get enlisted. Being away from my loved ones isn't too hard as long as when I have time to see them we can have real quality time together. Whether it's training on site or in action. As long as my n my misses are able to play multiplayer games online we will sustain a healthy relationship

Infantry isn't broken, society is. As Friedrich Nietzsche once famously said, "He who has a why to live can bear almost any how." I have never been a fan of drawing a parallel between soldiers and athletes. 1. The former has to be a jack of all trades, master of some and the latter a master of (usually) one skill. 2. Soldiers are often trying to make a lifelong career out of the profession of arms. Far longer than the average career of an athlete and the strain, wear and tear often occurs over decades not years. 3. A bad day for an athlete is failing to win a medal or comp. A bad day for a soldier is failing to save a mate, failing to protect innocents lives and livelihood, being on the losing side of a war, that cost health, minds and lives, especially a pointless one. 4. Professional athletes have specialized, tailored full-spectrum, training, dietary, physical and psychological health support that the average soldier simply doesn't have access to. 5. Finally using terms like "Tactical Athlete" to compare soldiers to professional athletes IMO places far to much emphasis on the physical. There is a reason SF select and then only in part for for "Toughness" not merely "Fitness". Fitness is a baseline not the end-state of a holistic approach to building and honing a solider. We had an officer organize for some coaches from professional sports team to give us a hot tips for young players lecture on mindset etc. It was to be blunt, insulting. In my experience the guys that harp on endlessly about athleticism and spend the most time mirror gazing in the gym and on the gear and giving dietary advice are the ones most likely to whine about going bush, bitch about working late or when it is cold/wet, tiring etc. They are very often also the least proficient at actual soldiering.

I made it a minute and a half in. once you didn't get the point, I'm out. and yes, this young dumb horny delusional preppy coddled little boy decided to meet some trailer trash with a face tats and calling herself "deadly baddie." He's lucky the cops he dealt with were professional because in the US they often are not. He spoke to them without an attorney which is even dumber than meeting random trailer trash from social media. He didn't expect it because he's a coddled upper middle class kid. Shocking that they saw him as an easy mark. That's sarcasm. I just saw an image of the trailer trash chick. Disgusting. This guy needs to do better. I can imagine what the one he met on tinder looked like. It's easy to get laid when you're taking pigs and whales. Vile. And this kid couldn't even handle two teenage girls despite being armed with a baton? What a punk. Any man with half a testicle could have curb stomped those trash pigs in an instant with minimal effort. I know fat women are stronger than normal women. that doesn't matter. What an absolute little fairy boy.

Want longer careers? Have periods where bodies are built up like in team sports and have adequate recovery with real physio work like in team sports. I do believe that there should be a small combat corps allowance to make sure they're compensated properly for the higher risk. Pathways out of infantry could be better but in general corps transfers still seem rubbish from people I'm talking to that are still in. Typed that before he got to the health part. Infantry is nothing like a professional athlete I can speak as someone who spent some years in infantry and quite a long time as an athlete and coach of athletes. The training periods into performance cycles and attitudes are very different. Technique and recovery taught by defence is still bad and leads to so many pointless life long injuries that a footy player would miss a couple training sessions for. It's good to quickly build someone up for operations but if we're talking about peace time and semi peaceful operational periods careers are going to be shortened. Defence can learn so much from sports but they'll never be similar enough to directly compare. On old mates videos I'd cut him some slack when he probably made it for views and wanted to vent. I still have more concern about the politics ruining defence than anything else.

The Aussies won, and after the war, my Grandmother came out to Australia to marry Grandad. And two generations later, here I am :) It's now a bit of a family pilgrimage if you're ever in London, to go and see the house where our Grandmother grew up as it survived both wars and is still there.
