Have you gone in July ? I’m going solo for my first time in late July! Unfortunately not camping just a day trip. Booked the 3 hour kayak trip hoping I’ll be able to get some hiking in as well!

Yes - be sure to bring tons of water with electrolytes, hats, change of clothes for swimming, sunscreen etc. there’s hardly any shade there on the hikes.

The Bloomsday Run is the kickoff for the Lilac Festival which brings Riverfront Park and Downtown full of activities with focus on our beloved lilcs..until the following weekend when The Armed Forces Torchlight Parade presents the Best of the Great Northwest high school marching bands and floats contributed by the busy people in towns from Western Montana, Northern Idaho, Washington and Oregon. It will make you feel like a kid again when you suddenly realize you've been grinning since the start. And a great big, bright red, very shiny firetruck at the very end. It feels like the carnival had left town. Lots of fun, pretty girls in pretty dresses. I do love that parade. Followed by a long line to get on our prized Loof Carousel and glide around in circles surrounded by lights, music and all the other beautiful animals. But that's another story.

I lived in Msla during my brief college years. Moved west to the coast ( Puget Sound area). Moved back to MT to the Gallatin Valley before the boom. Now Msla is as crazy as Bozeman, but it still is my second favorite place to hang for a week or two during summer next to uptown historic Butte. I can barely afford to live anywhere in MT these days.

I noticed the legislative bldg in the thumb pic, noting the legislative grounds are well kept and lots of folks go to jog in its park, however, it’s now over run with homeless people tenting there until the snow falls.

Dunno about post covid but precovid there was a huge night life and tons of late night bars and scenes but if you're not from there you'd never realize and know where to go. You can easily spend all night bar hopping with music and dancing all over.

this report is so negative and grimmy for unknown reasons , shorts are familiar and acceptable and people are familiar here with different fashions of the tourists , only In Ramadan mornings modesty is more appreciated by the natives because looking at women in revealing dressing can spoil their fasting , however no embarrassment or hostility was ever caused by that , and tourists freedom is supported from the authorities for a smooth vacation considering food I'm from Cairo and lived in Luxor for 3 continuous years , never had any problem with food hygiene and safety at restaurants or on river cruisers only mild stomach issues of course due to change in environment that causes difference in gut microbiome , it's a familiar issue for all tourists around the world there's a lot of police for your safety but no one is ready to bring that terrible wrath upon him by kidnapping a tourist , to him part time marriage or friendship is more practical solutions The turbulence of the Arab spring had nothing to do with tourists in Egypt , only i Tunisia a couple of tourists were killed by extremists Thanks for the reconciliation at the end < late better than never 😊

The historical area is nice, but I would recommend looking for lodging just outside of the area. Pace is slower and quieter, and more of an authentic, locals type experience.

Missoula has always had a sort of identity crisis. In the 90's it really wanted to be a mini Seattle, now it's a mix between the worst of San Fran and Austin. Homeless and pretentious hipster artists who are hard to differentiate abound.

Thank you, as a "Pegger" I enjoyed your video. Just a comment about the mosquitoes - they aren't as bad as they used to be - really! We have had a really great environmentally friendly control system in place for several years. I barely notice them now. In August we have Folklorama, the largest and longest-running (54 years) multicultural festival of its kind in the world. 38 pavilions this year! The winters are cold but I guess I'm used to them. There is so much to do in winter to keep you warm, like the Festival du Voyageur, the largest Francophone event in Western Canada every February, Hé ho!!. Also, the normally 6km Nestaweya River Trail is loads of fun though we had such a mild winter this year that only one section opened at the end of January - this is where you'll see many of the spectacular warming huts.

Not quite "all inclusive"...gratuities are NOT included. We just booked our first Viking cruise and I was surprised to learn that our grats were $17/day. Also, there are drinks that are not included, unless you buy the Silver Spirits pkg. And one of the specialty restaurants is not included and it isn't cheap.

Quick note that the hostility mentioned towards "outsiders" doesn't exist _in_ Bozeman. It's a feature of the rural country beyond the suburbs and relates to rapid development and "liberal values" (non-white people) found by the folks living in those places when they run to Bozeman for Costco and Home Depot, not to tourists. There have been tourists coming to Bozeman since forever and much of the local economy depends on them.

Airline information is a little out of date. Bozeman has direct flights from: Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Burbank, LAX, Santa Ana, San Diego, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Salt Lake, Denver, San Antonio, Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, Nashville, Charlotte, Chicago, DC, New York, Minneapolis and Boston (some are seasonal).

Before you go, read "Diary of a sea captain's wife : tales of Santa Cruz Island". Learn about rum runners during prohibition, fishing, and Hollywood movie making on Santa Cruz in the early 1930s. Juan Cabrillo is buried on San Miguel Island. I spent a lot of time in that channel and at Anacapa and Santa Cruz. You never know what you might see in the Channel: large pods of traveling dolphins, Pilot, Grey, Humpback, or even Blue whales, sharks, etc. I once found a dead 30 lb. Mola (ocean sunfish) on my way back in. we waited until we were just inside Channel Islands Harbor. It was a Saturday and a lot of people were fishing from the jetty. we kept it hid, hooked it through the jaw, slid it over the side opposite the fishermen, and when the line came tight we stopped the boat and made a big deal out of reeling it in, jerking the rod around like we were fighting a big fish. We re-killed it with a baseball bat gaff and they didn't know what to think! You only see these fish offshore, and then only occasionally so none of them had ever seen one before. We tried it again at the boat ramp where CA Fish and Wildlife was hanging out, but they just laughed. They knew what we were up to! The continental shelf comes close to the mainland so very deep water is not far offshore. Upwelling brings nutrients to the surface, so there is a LOT of marine life. It was too rough to get back late one afternoon so we pulled up to a 165-foot oil platform supply boat. The crew were on vacation and had scammed enough fuel to take the boat to the islands. They were anchored over a lobster hole. They gave us a tour of the boat. Once it got dark they turned on huge searchlights and that brought in thousands of flying fish. They were everywhere! That brought in tons of sea lions feeding on the flying fish. I saw one sea lion leap out of the water and take a flying fish right out of the air. The fish was flying perpendicular to the direction of the sea lion travel. Absolutely Amazing. Grunion runs happen on the beach between Oxnard and Ventura. Typically on moonless nights around 2 am. The beach is solid silver fish as far as you can see in both directions. Again, absolutely amazing! They only run during certain months, look it up.

Its a unique little city....but not a whole lot going on to be honest. It hasn't changed much in 20 plus yrs. You could be walking downtown and never know it! Lol, its a ghost town. Where is everybody? I lived in the peg for 6 yrs and u less u have a car it can be a pain to get around. Winters are brutal. Summers are beautiful. The Forks is probably the best part of the entire city. There just isn't much happening and people don't seem to go out much. 🤷🏼‍♂️. I now live in Toronto and its an amazing, amazing city! I wouldnt want to live anywhere else in Canada.
