Came here to learn about the "UGREENLink" since i wasn't sure if i can just type in anything or if there is a premade ID i have to use there. Its really impressive how well UGREEN handels the Remoteaccess ans YES you are absolutely right about the security concerns, especially in the future when the system has more polpularity so someone could just make a guess and try to brute force into the remoteaccess. I'm not sure if UGREEN is already aware of that and has some "interventions" implemented or something similar. For me, there is still no reason NOT to use a VPN-Connection to my NAS but netherteless it's cool to have that kinda "exposted" alternative by UGREEN. Anyway, thank you for making that deepdive into the more advanced settings, you are technically the first one who even mentioned how to setup UGREENLink so have my Upvote!

Most photographers don’t understand what the 18% meter calibration was based on or that it changed to 12% when film speed measurement changed from ASA (American Standard) to ISO (International Standard). 18% was based on the response of B&W film which was Orthochomatic when the Weston Meter Adams used was invented. The point was selected by measuring the average reflectance of typically composed outdoor scene on a clear sunny day (1/3 sky / 2/3 forground) and picking the % that exposed the darkest shadows with density on the negative. Based on that 18% standard if one meters off an 18% gray card instead of the scene you should get enough exposure in the shadows of any scene to prevent loss of shadow detail - a very logical solution to the problem. But in the late 1960s when the ISO standard was established film response had change because it was now Panchomatic and color and it was determined 12% was the better calibration point to ensure sufficient shadow rendering on negative film. The gray card now need to be 12% to meter off it correctly. So why does Kodak still sell 18% cards? I was a lab technician at National Geographic in the 1970s and the story I got from Kodak tech reps was that Ansel Adams on learning of the change went to Kodak HQ and lobbied the executives to keep the Kodak card 18% because he had based the Zone System around Zone V = 18%. I started using Adams system in 1971 before going to work at NGS from the 1968 edition of his books. Back then there were only Zone 0 -9 because Adams had divided the tonal scale OF THE SCENE into ten steps black to white OBJECTS but neglected to assign a Zone to SPECULAR REFLECTIONS which are now designated Zone 10 giving the tonal scale 11 steps. He recognized that mistake in the Forward of the 1968 but didn’t revise the text. In the forward of the 1968 edition Adams also addresses the confusion that Zones = f/stops or EV values. They do not and he suggested mentally substituting “Print Value” when reading “Zone”. Zones are Adams narrative description of how tone and detail looks in scene and print. What one needs to wrap their brain around is BLACK in the scene and on a print are different (DARK GRAY) and the brightest WHITE OBJECT is a scene must be rendered GRAY, reserving the white paper base for SPECULAR HIGHLIGHTS ON WHITE OBJECTS. Relating this to digital if photographing white car the brightest parts of the body need to be exposed in the range of 245-250 and the only 255 value should be the specular reflection of the sun on the white body and chrome - the specular highlights are the clue the brain uses to discern 3D in a 2D reproduction. Artists who draw and paint very quickly realize that. We get most of our clues to 3D shape in 2D photos from the shadows but on white nearly flat objects like a car hood all the clues to 3D shape come from the placement of the specular reflections which is why highlight rendering to preserve them is so important. The highlight warning in the playback of DSLR or live EVF of mirrorless is the easiest and most accurate way to expose. Adjust exposure until smooth Zone 9 white objects (not specular highlight) clip then reduce exposure 1/3 stop and you will never blow out highlights in the RAW file. Then look at the left side of histogram to determine if SENSOR RANGE is able to render the shadows accurately. If not just increasing exposure by two - three stops and using HDR in post processing will result in a full range of detail, but requires shooting on tripod or bean bag. I don’t carry a tripod on vacation I just go buy a small bag of rice to set the camera on for HDR captures.

For the Remote Access, is it that only one ugreen account can be linked to the account? So if I wanted other people to be able to access their limited folders, it won’t work over remote access unless they use my account?
@RMSPtvКүн бұрын
That's a wonderful question. They don't need to be part of your account, but they will access the NAS through their web browser at the same URL you use. They will just use their own login credentials to access their limited folders.

Everything you show on a black camera is hard to see. This is because you have chosen a background that is too bright for the video, and the video camera cannot cope with this contrast. She tells you: "I can shoot either a bright background or a black camera with fine details."

The additional Attribute filter is something that escaped my attention until you mentioned it here. I've looked at it now and not quite sure how (or if) I'll use it. One thing I HAVE used extensively, in Smart Collections, is the ability to filter out images that I haven't yet (or have as the case may be) Published. I use that all the time. So the new Attribute for export status may be something that I will be able to find useful in my workflow at some point--just not sure right now what that will be.

So the wear and tear gets mentioned a lot but surely the mechanical shutter should outlive the camera? I’d hate to think they are designed to fail under normal use.
@RMSPtvКүн бұрын
Shutters are one of the first things to wear out on most cameras - BUT - most people want a new camera well before they are at the point of the shutter wearing out.

It’s crap when it comes to the healing brush, if you want healing with no skin texture just a blurry mess this update is for you. Also look at the terms of service from Adobe using firefly, you give them full rights to any thing you create in perpetuity so I am not sure about this but there could be issues if you want to sell your new photo with firefly enhancements it’s a wild world out there but remember firefly creations are not photographs

Hey! Great videos. Been playing about with my Hero10. If I wanted to shoot 2.7k (for smaller files!) at 60fps, 1/120 shutter speed with ND filter would I get less motion blur and thus more detail around the edges when on the motorcycle compared to 4K-30-1/60 which is super blurry at speed? Or would it be just the same
@jamescaldwell512 күн бұрын
Re banding I set my shutter speed to 1/60 for indoor and my ISO to auto. I have yet to find an issue with banding at this shutter speed. (I think the shutter just has to be slower than the flicker rate) This is on my Electronic shutter only Sigma FPL. Great video BTW. But I am curious, the say you describe the Mechanical shutter. It too exposes a thin horizontal strip of the sensor from top to bottom. Why would this not also have the diagonal line issue with side to side motion?

I have been shooting sports, mostly baseball/softball for 2 years on Nikon D3200 with 55-200mm, I need a longer lens. My daughter volunteered me when her coach asked for someone to photograph practices and games so the girls could study their techniques. I enjoyed it so I did it for their other teams (rec and school). Now I'm considering side business. I do like the Nikon but am curious what you would recommend.
@RMSPtv13 күн бұрын
Congrats on the opportunity! As for our recommendation it depends on a few factors 1.) What's your budget for a camera (and lenses), 2.) What Camera system do you like or prefer the most? and 3.) Are you going to just stick to one specific genre of photography or will you branch out?
@rachelsparks781612 күн бұрын
@RMSPtv I do love Nikon as I've learned on that. I'd love to find something that comes with 55mm, 200mm, 440/500mm. Willing to put $ in but not ready to go all out passed 5,000. I've had requests for other sports. And I'd most likely do personal Sports photos with teammates and individual.
