While I do agree that it worth noting that the Mayhem has to be treated with extra caution, I don't think it should lower the rating of the knife. Similar to how a Balisong requires more caution but people generally don't rate a knife lower just for being a Balisong. I think a safety issue that does affect a knife rating would be something like low blade retention in the close position or a lock that is prone to failure. Price is too much, agreed. That said most people can find a much lower price online, about $240. Still a bit high but at least better than MSRP.

Im all for bashing knives when they deserve it, even some of my favorite knives. This is definitely not one of my favorite knives, but i also dont understand the safety criticism. Its like calling a 12 guage dangerous because if you do something dumb and accidentally shoot yourself with it then the damage is gonna be worse than a .22.
@jacobreviewsthings
@jacobreviewsthings 10 күн бұрын
That's fair. My big problem is that the lock they used makes it easier for accidents to happen. Like they took something that works and chose to make it sketchier. The blade floats freely so there's nothing stopping that thing from slamming down on you. With the axis locks when you disengage the lock the blade will unlock and then usually just stay in place until you move it. Something could still go wrong, but I have a lot more control over where that blade is at. With this it's all gravity. I'd compare it to driving without a seat belt. You'll probably be fine, but if you get in a accident you'll be way worse off than if you were wearing it.

@@jacobreviewsthings "Kek" is an internet slang term that originated from the popular online game World of Warcraft. In the game, players from the opposing factions, Horde and Alliance, could not understand each other's written messages due to language barriers. When a player from the Horde faction typed "lol" (laugh out loud), players from the Alliance faction would see it as "kek" due to the in-game language translation. Over time, "kek" became a common way to express laughter or amusement in online gaming communities and internet culture more broadly. It is often used similarly to "lol" or "haha" in online conversations.

Ive never sought-out or avoided any model or brand based solely on country of origin, but about 60% of my collection is American made. If you're looking for a self defense blade, the longer the better. Small knives, like most pocket knives, including that Spyderco Police, are bullshit for self defense except for certain niche roles. These big "pocket swords" should be carried in the waistband not the pocket.

You shouldn't have such a problem unlocking the Blade. Watch my Videos of mine... The GSM Models, in the beginning, had an issue like what your talking about. I bought two when they first re-released. They both would go into, what I call, Fixed Blade Mode. I fix3d the issue. What was wrong was the Stop Pin. It was 5.97mm when it needed to be 6.22mm. Once, I put the right size Stop Pin in it, it functioned perfectly. :-) !Peace, Stiletto :-)
