I can't help but wonder if there also isn't a little bit of who-has-the-biggest going on here between Scania and Volvo.

I've always been an old school team member, I used to not like the new semi-trailer trucks because of how modern and not noisy they looked compared to the ones where you could hear the engine brake up to 3 kilometers or more away, but my way of thinking changed a bit when I had the opportunity to board as a co-pilot in a 2022 International LT model last year, if I'm not mistaken the engine it used was a S13 Navistar, and it blew my mind even when I heard the engine brake, and the engine itself, passive-aggressive, nice and I come back with the engine brake, very rough, that trailer left me speechless, on top of that the trunk is very nice, it is comfortable to ride, and it has a resistance to drive on the road that is crazy. I have not driven in Volvos, according to my trucker friend, Internationals and Volvos are the same, but what I am very sure of is that, if before I only liked the old trucks, now I like the new ones equally. I would go for the International LT model which is a good replacement for the ProStar, but what a good semi truck.

Yes electric can replace diesel trucking... The key is battery swapping, not in vehicle charging. Duh...

some of the reasons for why most trucks.l use inline-6 engines versus v-8s are flawed. "v8s have a bigger displacement" is a bogus reason. in the last century, Lamborghini made a 5-liter v12. most US manufacturers made a 5-liter v8, and i know at least Ford made a 5-liter i6. different cylinder bore and crank strokes were required between the three types, obviously. a V doesnt mean its bigger. also, only OHC and DOHC V8 engines have more than one cam shaft for all valve actuation. for decades all engines used a single cam shaft mounted above the crank shaft but within the cylinder block. they used lifters, pushrods, and rockers/fulcrums to transfer motion fron the central camshaft's lobes to the individual valve stems. i admit with everyone going to 4-valve heads and DOHC, having a V configuration complicates things. another main reason for i-6s is modern emission regulation caused manufacturing/mainentance cost escalation. two cylinder banks requiring all the sensors is more complex/expensive than a single cylinder bank with the same required sensors.

Informative video with a a big error. The bridge weight formula still applies and limits the overall length of the tractor when concerning GVW while crossing bridges. So the length of the tractor relative to the trailer is still considered when crossing bridges. That's why they make a set forward axle for the Kenworth t880 and other trucks so they can shorten the wheelbase of the tractor and comply with bridge weight formula.

Us is completely out of this universe. First brought total length and forced cab overs then removed cab length and then created even longer cabs. How stupid is that

In Finland many trucks in domestic routes are big too: Without special permissions combinations up to 76 metric tons and 34,5 metres are allowed and very much used. In some regular routes (with strong enough roads and bridges) permissions have even been granted to 97 ton combinations, which are about half of those biggest ones in Australia.

Yellow is one of the most visible colours. Both during the day and at night, the colour provides sufficient contrast - even under the dusty conditions on a construction site. As such, it serves excellently as a warning colour that signifies hazards.
