Thank you for this. Your videos are really informative and are helping me a lot at university. Do you have advice on a rough estimate of time/percentage of time one should spend on the research stage of a character design? At university, I have very limited time windows to create characters for projects and find I spend too long during research and don’t have much time to actually collate the info and draw or share development work for feedback before pitching final characters.

Great. 13 mins in and you skipped how to unwrap the uv. Now I'm missing an essential step. Good job.
@jasonwang72 ай бұрын
Hi, this video is focused on texturing. You can search for other videos if you want to learn more about unwrapping.

You can use the handpainted approach if you want to create a single texture map (without normal, metallic, roughness, etc.)

Yup, that's why blizzard stopped handpainting in photoshop and switched to zbrush for sculpting and baking + texturing in substance painter already a decade ago now.

I think you did a nice job on the types of folds that I first learned about in Barbara Bradley's book "Drawing People". Why didn't you give her any credit in your video? You used her drawings to illustrate all the types of folds? Did you have permission to use these images?
@jasonwang72 жыл бұрын
Hi Susan, thank you for the comment. I found the images through Google and used them in the video without crediting the original artist, that is my bad. I have since included the credits in the description.
