It's only referred to as leather after tanning has taken place. Also grain split and flesh split terms are correct, not top grain, that is more of an American term. Have been in the leather tanning business for fifty five years. A very good video though.

Restiamo a disposizione! Grazie e buona giornata 😊 Il Team di Fenice Care System

@@FeniceCareSystem ok grazie, ultima cosa: ogni quanto tempo consigliate la manutenzione del letto rivestito in pelle ( cleaner+ crema) ?
@FeniceCareSystem Жыл бұрын
@@stratosoldano Il trattamento di pulizia e protezione va effettuato almeno due volte l’anno. Per pezzi d’arredamento molto usati, come ad esempio poggiatesta e testiera del letto, consigliamo invece un ciclo ogni due-tre mesi.

Y don’t you thank those animals who died and get their skin for your plush living and useless shoe off
@RidingWithDave Жыл бұрын
You do realize they're not just killed for their leather right? They're killed for the meat and then the hide is used to make things so that all the resources are used from the harvested animals. So for "plush living and useless shoes" that's not what they're killed solely for. We can't eat the hides so what do you prefer we do with them? Would wasting and throwing it away make you feel better? Lol.

This only covers comercial chrome tanned leather such as is used in furniture and items such as purses and jackets. Chrome tanning is one of the worst industries for the environment unless alternate chromiums are used that are safer. Also chrome tanning allows for the varied rainbow of colors. Not all leather is split either, high end vegetable and oil tanned leathers are full grain leather and provide for a more durable and thougher product that is used in making bespoke boots, shoes, saddles, and many other heavy duty and high quality products. Chrome tanning is also the least expensive and fastest of the tanning processes.

Where is the part that cows are killed?
@FeniceCareSystem2 жыл бұрын
Hello, leather is a byproduct of the meat industry. There would be no benefit to killing an animal just for its leather. The leather industry converts the waste from the meat industry into useful articles.

This is a very condensed and simplified view of the tanning process,chrome leather takes up to 18 days from desalting to finishing, since we work with a natural product the process and formulation of chemicals has to be adjusted on a regular basis to obtain a uniform product in texture,color, physical properties,not an easy task.I 'm glad I'm retired, I worked as a technician for over 40 years.

For you, what is the big difference of a good to a top tier leather? Is it the different machines that's used in tannery or different techniques?

Leather is disgusting. I didn't know leather was made from animals skin ;/ those poor animals. All the suffering the animals had go through is horrific, first they have to walk hundreds of miles in the heat with no water, no food. And then they are taken to the slaughter house where the poor animals throat is cut open and their skins pulled off. All the pain and suffering they had to endure is just horrific and disgusting. And all for a leather belt or shoes or a jacket, really? people really are evil.
