It’s a very interesting movie and well acted. The concerning thing for me as a lawyer is how the child’s right to proper protection of his life is just ignored. The awareness that should be uppermost in the movie, is that the mother face the consequences of her gross negligence. The death legally was unlawful because nobody, especially a child should be left sealed in a locked car (effectively a furnace in African heat) without the windows ajar or the A/C left on. If that’s not something that’s known then the film’s direction should also address the legal consequences of such gross negligence. The mother when treated could then have started an awareness campaign for other parents using the example of her unintended but gross violation of her child’s life to help other parents to stop leaving children locked in cars. In the West, parents didn’t change until the law changed and awareness was raised that parents would face being charged trued and convicted for killing their child in this way. It’s a terrible death for anyone but just imagine a baby or toddler. In the West you would be charged if you left a dog to die in this way. The excuse of ‘forgetting’ is always what used to be raised until the right of the child was placed above the reasons of the parent. Very very interesting movie in its own right especially the lying snake of ‘friend’ and the mother choosing to evade her responsibility and the grandmother choosing to insensitively ignore the devastating effects on her son-in-law of losing his child in the same way that she is concerned for her adult child whose actions set off the chain of devastation.
