I’m pretty sure these tops were always a dealership add on, meaning that all these cars have the normal roof under it, all the Buicks and Cadillacs with these E&G tops are like that too.

I have an ‘07 Town Car with that same problem. I’m thinking about leaving that fiberglass shell on tho and just bondo over it and paint.

Why did you skip the video part of actually replacing the thermostat? I have a specific question on a 95 vs older versions of this engine. My new thermostat doesn’t look like it fits. The surface in the aluminum housing isn’t perfectly round. It has two flat spots cast on the sides. Older cast iron housings don’t seem to have that. Plus, the new thermostat came with a rubber gasket and I’m not sure if I should try to use it. Doesn’t play well with the two flat spots, and no other vids that I’ve found show thermostats with that gasket. My truck had no thermostat in it to compare to so I’m SOL unless someone ACTUALLY shows the video of a 95 thermostat being replaced on a 300 I6.

1: disconnect negative battery terminal. 2: drain coolant from radiator using the valve at the bottom side of the radiator. 3: remove upper radiator hose from thermostat. 4: thermostat has two bolts, remove them. 5: remove thermostat housing. (There are only two bolts) 6: notice the orientation of the thermostat when you remove it. The new thermostat should be positioned in the same way. 7: clean up thermostat housing and where it attaches to engine. 8: replace the old gasket. 9: insert new thermostat, remember to match the original orientation of the one you've removed. 10: reattach thermostat housing. Do not overtighten this, dont want to crack housing. 11: put the upper radiator house back on. 12: eat some tacos and relax.

@@savage_the_wild Thanks? Your instructions didn't really address any of my issues though. If you had read my comment thoroughly, you'd know my truck had no thermostat in it. How exactly would I position my new thermostat the same way. BTW, my post was 8 months ago. I'm glad I didn't wait for an answer here to fix it. The issue ended up being the parts store I got the thermostat from. They looked up the wrong part number. The thermostat they sold me was not for the correct year/engine. Since I had no thermostat to bring with me to verify it was the correct part, I tried to look up video's of the exact year/make/model/engine to get a visual. That's what led me to this useless video. I've replaced a dozen or so thermostats in my life. Not a hard job at all normally. But to buy a vehicle that didn't have a thermostat in it and try to install an incorrect thermostat for a different engine, well that can make things tricky. It was a very easy job once I got the correct part. Way easier than the 12 step process you outlined. (No need to disconnect battery, or drain coolant BTW. But, I do like tacos, so appreciated that step!)

I have a 1999 ford f150 that will not turn over has a new battery and a new starter but will not tur over I just need to know where the neutral safety switch is located it's a manual transmission

Located inside by the gas pedal, the clutch pedal goes up towards the firewall and then takes a hard right towards the gas pedal then makes the connection to your neutral safety switch through the firewall. Should help, good luck!

What? Plastic Chinese crap on a American vehicle! Imagine that! 😂 So much for good old American made vehicles any more! Funny cause my brother in law was huge on only buying American made vehicles. Said he never own a foreign vehicle! Imagine the look on his face when he found out his Ford Bronco 2 XLT actually had the same engine as a Mitsubishi engine stock from the factory! LOL when it comes to newer vehicles I don’t believe there’s any of them any more that’s truly all American made from top to bottom! Foreign parts are everywhere now!

So if I understand, i need to replace the radiator cap and the thermostat to burp the system. I replaced the pump and I have absolutely no flow at all. Reservoir topped off but not moving coolant.

Hey, what did you use to get the top off? I have a 2003 DeVille and it looks like the same exact situation. What did you use for softening the glue and everything ?
