@gbacklin28 күн бұрын
As far as microphones, I had 4 covering the orchestra. One covering the keyboards. One spot mic for any soloists. One stereo pair to cover the performance. As far as rhythm, this a local group of volunteers that most are seniors and very few are studied vocalists. As far as any room issues, this church is massive and not soundproofed in any way. Reverb with Gregorian chants is magical. With anything the size of this performance has many issues. It’s just the physics of sound. One final note. To properly record an ensemble of this size within this church, one would need more than one hour to properly set up, however within that hour I had access to, I was also dealing with the ensemble setting up the chairs and rehearsal pre performance. In addition to the audio setup, I also had to set up two cameras for the video. I could not come earlier as there was a mass beforehand and everything had to be ready for the concert within one hour. “The show must go on” Finally, this was just one selection from the concert that lasted around 90 minutes. The most important part was that the music director/conductor, choir, orchestra and the audience were pleased with it all.

I do not bring a tripod, so if I put it in landscape the scoring tablets block out the pins. I mainly do this for our anchor who spends the winter in Florida so he can still feel like he was with us.

Thank you for your suggestion. The screen responds as expected with touch events, it’s just this self activation that is the issue which doesn’t appear in service mode. I don’t know if it is visible, but the car icon on lower left actually changes color as if it is being tapped even though no one is tapping the screen. It is definitely strange.

You’ve got to be able to tune out the noise. If you don’t, it can drive you crazy. Someone is always going to do or say something that can irritate you, it doesn’t matter what your vocation. When that happens, I think about what my Dad used to say. “Pretend they don’t exist!”

Dear oh dear. Nuance or time doesn’t happen does it? Just loud. The Riga Cathedral recording shows how it’s done. Good effort though

In all fairness, the choir is all volunteer and average age in the 50-60 range. The time I was allowed to set up audio and video was less than an hour, while the choir was setting up chairs and pre concert practicing 😊

Acoustics can cause delay, like tannoys arranged around a football field such as the delay when American anthem sang at football games. We used red curtains in one of my choirs that slid on rails so the stone walls would echo as the curtains absorbed excess volume. Choirs can be very powerful :-y

Pete Weber and his wife Tracy has been dealing with her illness for a couple of years. I am certain that is why he retired from the PBA tour. He is out there trying to pay the bills. I would get agitated as well if I had a significant other over cheering and talking crap while I was trying to compete. Let it be please 🙏
