For all his charming self-deprecation and 'weaponised helplessness' Tóibín is on top form here, conjuring stories out of the ether with the skill of a magician and the precision of a word-surgeon. Transported to Enniscorthy, can't you just smell the hot vinegary air wafting from the local chip shop? I may not have any immediate travel plans but I'll definitely be reading Long Island.
Loved how you came out with the idea of Jordan Manning ( love both 😂)

Seen this yesterday, as a regular man and avid theater goer, I assume to have put a non Alphabet character in is forbidden , changing a characters gender in an established 100 year story ,like Black no More? Makes sense. Ok I guess a all happy company is cool ,no non happy folk. Woke is strong and killing real theater and stories. I judge Alphabet stories by, Suger in our Wounds, a great story. It was a pay as you exit, i still put a 20 in the envelope. The rainbow struggle in no way is comparable to the black struggle. I knew it was Alphabet but i tried ? It wasn't Hot wing king!!!!! A father son story hidden in a happy love 0:08 story, katorri hall is a genius.

I think he was very political..and he was very clever in knowing how much he could talk about race-especially in Illinois. He seems to know when it’s ok to say a little bit more- depending on his audiences and the exact times he’s in. As he became more popular , it seems to me, that he starts to open up a little more. But he HAD to be careful- he was well aware how unpopular his views were. He had to keep things close to the vest and remain mindful of all the hate that was out there for him. You can’t get anything done if you can’t get your foot in the door….

I love Emily's humor and raw authenticity, she's my favorite sex educator! I too used to think sex was all about finding that spark... but as I've experienced life more, come to the same conclusion as Emily... it's about CHOOSING pleasure because it feels good and creates connection. I don't need to be "turned on" to have sex, the turn-on comes in the act of connection and play.

That was awesome I need to listen few x to really absorb I have ADHD & I do pretty well at communicating with others after realising I used to interrupt & talk to much about my experience of the subject in discussion. It wasn't so much like a grandiose narcissistic person but ...I got excited to share anything that related to the other persons experience & I had to get it out before I forgot what I was going to say because I thought, what I was about to say was good & maybe funny but relatable. If I had to wait to tell it, I could then grapple trying to remember the exact words and actions I had spontaneously pop into my head. I would then have to rehearse this future conversation like a part in a play. This is all going on in my head while I'm supposed to be listening to the other person.🤔🤯😒 Well now I don't like to talk much I prefer to listen & let them talk about themselves. It's a good practice for my ADHD but it's less stressful & I've found what I initially want to say, if I wait till the end isn't that important to convey anyway. I have noticed though, that over the years, the average person likes to do what I used to do. Maybe I only noticed now that I'm pausing between breaths & changes of subject , or ....the world is becoming self absorbed, victims of society, social media addicts who only want listen to the sound of their own voice & post pics of what they ate for Breakfast 😒 The generation that I learnt so much by listening to because their morals & attitude, were like the little golden books of life lessons. Maybe it's best that most of them are not around now to see what has become of the world they so patriotically fought & risked their lives to save. If there was the ability for hindsight back then ....the world could be completely different now. "It's life Jim but not as we know it" Or..( knew it)

When did you find your poetry was most best expressed in a song 🎵 such as last chance Texaco. This song as a 65 year old I feel the sadness of the need for gas and the price the world paid for the American oligarchs greed in collusion to overthrow the middle east...sad but true end the waron Gaza. 2 state solution, 1967 border.
