I agree with several other commenters that this was originally made for record player or other audio equipment storage for a basement set up. This could also be a coffee bar or beverage cart or a microwave cart.

The end product looks very nice. Just a couple of observations. You probably could have determined the type of wood from looking at the back of the drawer fronts and / or the back of the legs. Also, I caught glimpses of what I think was a faux tiger oak finish, which was common to make less desirable woods look more expensive.

So much good content in this video. So many good supplies featured like the yellow sanding forms, the Sandnet sheets that can be cut to size, the detail picks, etc. Love your outlook on choosing pieces that require hard work and challenges. Folks don't always understand why I choose to do something like this, but you explained it so well. Such a lovely outcome on this project.

Ha! I saw that 2 dollar note (1:12) - you rebel you... 😄 Funny story on this - I used to work at a Dunkin Donuts (many many moons ago) and we had an elderly couple come through the Drive Thru and used to pay with 2 dollar bills... but we had no slot in the registers for it. Also it would mess with some of the newer/younger workers there (they thought these were fakes). Good times...

Why do we buy tools from China and this cheap stuff, we only support this people to build up their army and make trubbel for smal contrys like Filipin and Taiwan maybe time to think litte harder?

Nothing wrong with birch. And the choice of wax over finish or stain was a good one - this is lovely just as it is.

Beautiful job! Not sure if you realize it, but those ‘keyholes’ escutcheons pop right off the front if you put a small blade screwdriver under an edge. Then you can refinish the wood underneath them, and pop right back once the wood is sealed. :)

You bring such soul to these pieces and such history and respect … the piece was saved and looks beautiful… i caught the “negative” commentary by chance , which I hope you disregard.. your response was so respectful.. the negativity says more about him .. sadly for him. Love your channel, content and presentations. You make the world a better place … blessings.

Sadly, the expense for my own restorations doesn't just cost. 😢 I do love the final look of your sharing! that you have shown on your channel. great ideas that I have used over the years of viewing your channel!! Keep up the great sharings!😊

I love seeing a piece of furniture like this saved from a possible future at the dumpster and returned to a wonderful, simple, but usable state. The wax was a great choice. I hope this piece can live a long and happy life!

Throughout most of this video, I was dubious that you could make this piece look decent. You did far better -- it looks fantastic! The wood is much more attractive than I expected. It's a simple but lovely piece of furniture. Great job!!

Barry, you did an awesome job on this dresser. It’s beautiful. Wise choice in leaving in its natural state. I’ve seen these type of dressers (which I love) but I don’t remember ever seeing them in a different type of wood, it’s usually in oak. Have you decided to keep it or let it move on? ♥️♥️😊👍👍👍👍🌟

I have two pieces that I want to redo for the cabin I'm building. One is natural color, the other is painted. I want to do the painted one first. I prefer leaving it as natural ss possible, but I have not seen what wood it is made from.
