Man every Kansas championship under Bill Self involves a member of the Teahan family

You can see Self right there at the end holding back tears because he knows what just happened, all the hard work at the team that didn't get a shot because of Covid. You can see the emotions.

thing I love about Self is this...he has the utmost respect for the KU basketball program and history..its never about him or the team..its about adding to the tradition of all those before him and setting the expectation for all those who will come after..
@carsonc29 Жыл бұрын
@Wilt Chamberlain is the GOAT the thing that always annoyed me about Roy going back to UNC was that it was Kansas native and KU alum Dean Smith that talked him into coming back..that to me was a slap in the face of KU and its fan base....
@carsonc29 Жыл бұрын
@Wilt Chamberlain is the GOAT yep..thats why im never hard on Self when they lose early in the NCAA....Self came in and not only kept what Roy had going but built on top of that..we have been very fortunate to have Self..2 NC, 4 FF and almost every year we have a team that could make a deep run..not too many schools can say that..
@carsonc29 Жыл бұрын
@Wilt Chamberlain is the GOAT I dont think i would have been as bitter about Roy leaving if he would have won at least 1 NC with KU...it bugged me seeing him win a NC in his 2nd season at UNC after 10 + years of coming up short while at KU
@carsonc29 Жыл бұрын
@Wilt Chamberlain is the GOAT I think Self having experience playing in those BIG 8 games vs Kansas helped his decision..he knew how good the KU programs and fan base is..I like OSU, but they will never support their bball program like KU does...I closed the book on my hate for Roy in 2008 when KU smashed them on their way to a NC...plus Roy showed some real class by watching the NC game wearing a KU pin..especially knowing he'd get crap about it from from the UNC community

So now the Big 12 has won the last 2 national championships and Texas Tech was 15 seconds away from making it the last 3 for the Big 12. Tough league. Congrats to Kansas.
@derekmathews15572 жыл бұрын
I wanted Tech to win so badly that year. 15 seconds away from a title. The Big 12 would have gotten 3 for 3. Definitely the best league in college basketball by a long shot. Kansas, Baylor, Oklahoma, Texas Tech, even K-State have all had some some kind of tournament success in the last 9, 10 years. Overall this is what I envisioned for the Big 12 all long. Now people definitely can’t say this is an all Kansas league now.

This is a complete and a complementary team. You can stop 2 or 3 players but the 4 or 5 others will step up. That to me is why Kansas won. Just too much talent to stop them when they are this determined to win.
@kmack64712 жыл бұрын
Kansas who wins 20 plus games a year every year. Despite being not even close to the best team. Annoucers make sure you know how great Self and the team are every game. Only teams built up more are Dukey and NC. Never a bad word spoken of any of them on TV. Perfect every year.
@mikemorgan50152 жыл бұрын
Since Bill Self arrived, he had coached 19 seasons with no post season in 2020, we have averaged 29.3 wins per season. Do you not think that praise is warranted? We did have the best team in several of those seasons. It takes some luck to win 6 in a row in the tourney, though. Upsets happen every year. This was not even close to the best team we've had from a talent standpoint. But it was probably the most balanced team we've had in many years, with the exception of 2020. This may be one of the best teams we've ever had in terms of teamwork and chemistry. No team is EVER perfect. Perfection is hitting every shot and free throw, with zero turnovers or fouls, getting every defensive rebound, while holding your opponent to zero points. That ain't gonna happen.
@derekmathews15572 жыл бұрын
Kansas has 15 30 win seasons overall. Bill Self has guided this team to nine of those 15 30 win seasons. Kansas was definitely the best team in several of those seasons. Their national championship years they won 37 and 34 games. But one thing is for sure, winning 6 games is really hard to do. This is in single game elimination tournament. I definitely believe 2022 was the most balanced team Bill Self ever had. Definitely not the most talented but what I loved about this team is they thought they were talented and that helped a ton. I said before this tournament though that Kansas depth would play a huge part in how long they would be in the tournament. Remy, Mitch, KJ, Joseph, all gave Ku really good minutes in the tournament. Even Coleman-Lands had his moments too.
@mikemorgan50152 жыл бұрын
@@derekmathews1557 Yup, I agree. It was next man up seemingly every game, with no fall off. Opponents would play no-catch smothering D on one or two and the others would step up.

I've been a hard core Carolina fan for two decades now and though you are never happy to lose in the natty esp after being up 15 points, I never felt more happy and humbled to give a hand and congratulate the winning team. The sportsmanship the team showed when our best player had slipped and injured himself and the humility in Bill selfs speech in this video is outstanding. I can truly say I'm happy for the deserving champs 👏🏽

As a Kansas fan, I have nothing but respect for North Carolina. How can I not? Both programs have contributed heavily to each other's success over the decades. We gave you Dean Smith. You gave us Larry Brown and Roy Williams. We gave you back Roy Williams. KU is my favorite all-time team, but UNC is my favorite team from the ACC.
@thomasalexander73952 жыл бұрын
Shriram...as a life long Kansas fan we respect and applaud the UNC players, staff and fans. You guys have nothing to hang your head over as there's "ALWAYS" much to come from UNC Basketball. Can't get more blue blood basketball than UNC! Here's to bright basketball future!
@derekmathews15572 жыл бұрын
I agree. North Carolina and Kansas are like brothers to each other. Dean Smith played ball for Kansas. He coached North Carolina. Roy Williams was an assistant at Carolina. Then he coached Carolina and Kansas and had a legendary career at both. I have nothing but respect for the North Carolina program. North Carolina and Kansas have absolutely contributed to SO MUCH of each other’s success. Too many connections between these blue blood programs. On a side note, Bill is 19-8 against all blue bloods. He’s 4-0 against North Carolina in the tournament. Hell of a coach. And Carolina and Kansas have one more thing in common and that’s we both seem to hate Duke and Kentucky a lot. Their teams, coaches, and fanbases. Now their fanbases I definitely can’t stand. Easily the two worst fanbases in all of college basketball.
