The original movies were inspired by Kurosawa, so the ANH fights were very much based on kendo. It also makes sense if you think of a lightsaber as a "super-sharp" weapon like a katana that can easy kill with one slash. Fights are more about one single moment rather than acrobatics. But I still love the acrobatics. Check out one of the duels in Seven Samurai - one of the (many) inspirations for the original Star Wars: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fbWXmKSXlrKWeZ8.html

@@rabbitandcrow This was discussed in a previous comment, it's always cool to see people who've seen those films and know how important they are to the history of cinema. They're also fairly excellent representations of martial arts in film. I'd be surprised if the developers of this game were not also inspired by films like seven samurai. This game is developed by a European team, but I would still be excited to see them add a Samurai in the future.

Same mistake as usual. No one would use long, pointy laser sticks as cutting weapon. Why anyone want to reduce their weapon reach in half, if ANY part of the weapon is deadly? It would definitely be rapier-like combat, or even some weird force-centered style, main focus of wich would be to extend your reach beyond opponet capabilities :)

I personally find the lighting really harsh, aggressive, and ugly so it's a bit hard for me ro watch. My recommended lighting mods besides the stuff in the Viva New Vegas Guide are the Yellow Goodbye, Lumen, Simple Interior Lighting Overhaul if you would be interested to try any of those out. Mutant Mods has a video on graphical remastering the game that isn't outdated or washed out looking, it just enhances the game to look less ugly but still have the vanilla vibe and overall look.

Always a fail seeing “realistic” lightsaber duels, seeing as the lightsaber itself wasn’t what made the combat what it was. It was the physical capability of the warriors of that universe that made the battles that way. The super human flips, strength, speed, that came from the force. At one point, yeah they probably did first duel like that back in the day, except for with actual swords. The Jedi and Sith originally used swords however, and even back then they had the force, which meant only average people likely fought like that, versus those who were empowered by the force, and could literally move so much quicker and even could predict an enemies movement through the force before they even thought to commit to it, with a practice called Force Precognition. Which meant when force users finally going against one another in combat, they had to make entire stances and combat styles that were complex, intricate, and at same points random in tact, because it took that kind of edge to fight an enemy that could use the force to preemptively know what you were about to do. Once you figure that out, you realize the way lightsaber combat was done in the movies and shows WAS realistic, for that universe. I don’t expect space knights with scientifically studied and backed Magic powers and burning swords are going to fight like thethe knights of contemporary history on Earth. I expect them to not be human like we are, lol.

Okay first, Lightsabers don’t make clashing metal sounds. Second, at more than one point one of the dude’s blades went through the other’s wrist, which would have cut their hand. Three, I’m pretty sure I saw one guy get stabbed in the chest and not react to it. And finally, a lightsaber cauterizes a wound it makes because it’s producing so much heat and energy, so there would have been no blood. And that’s probably as close to real world physics as a frikking laser sword is going to get, so no, this wasn’t a ‘realistic’ lightsaber duel

@elboyo8343
@elboyo8343 9 күн бұрын
@@TheRevanchist We've seen it both ways, so the debate between choreography that's "realistic" and choreography that's "metaphysically accurate" really comes down to personal preference. Ideally choreographers should strive for a balanced approach. Some duels in the prequels are flashy but logically consistent, and some have the typical hollywood stunt problem of fight scenes looking really stupid if you look at them very closely. However the Disney movies are by far the worst offenders when it comes to that, so I can't say the prequels are as bad as it gets.
@theportlyone333
@theportlyone333 9 күн бұрын
People always seem to gloss over the fact that Force sensitives have insanely quick reflexes and frankly absurd physical capabilities. I agree that the flashy moves from the prequels are over the top, but the swordplay of a Jedi would be on an absolutely new level, unachievable to the average man. Acrobatic leaps, vertical movement, no wasted energy... You ever see a cat dodge a cobra strike? That kind of thing. Unfortunately not something we can emulate well in physical choreography. (Edit: could you imagine a swordplay style designed by someone with those kinds of abilities? What would that even look like? Could a modern human even come close to designing something like that?)

Ostensibly the existing schools of Jedi saber techniques address the different contextual situations a Jedi might find themselves in. While in real life some martial arts are better at certain things, it seems like the Jedi have an entire martial art for every combat scenario they can imagine. What those actually are when not discussed in overbroad terms is several iterations of B.S., but at least there's an attempt at an in-universe answer to that question. I would venture to imagine that aside from the normal muscle memory and tactical improvement that comes with training, Jedi martial arts would probably greatly emphasize the incorporations of the force into the different techniques, meaning that it wouldn't really be possible for a normal person to perform. Like blaster deflections. Blasters are way slower than bullets, but still way too fast for the average person to even attempt at deflecting.
