A classic LA truck! So glad they are still around! I wonder if South LA has any left?
@Amrepdude4993 күн бұрын
@@TheNVTrashMan i’m better with the valley’s personally so I can’t give a full number but I know south LA still has at the very least 36884 and 36885, probably some of the others as well. SLA seems to like them the best since several of theirs have/had normal routes recently. West Valley all 7 of theirs are spares and don’t go out that often with the exception of the HX-450, 36942. Which gets used a lot as a floater, but not always. East Valley has only 2-3 and I think only 902 runs regularly out of those. Both my West Valley Condor finds were in May when the yard was still pretty short on trucks so I haven’t seen them as much now. Can’t imagine they will live much longer than the 05 Diesels though, give it a year or two at most

@Amrepdude4993 күн бұрын
@@WasteManNic These condors don’t go out that much so this ones clamps probably just haven’t been replaced yet. East Valley had a diesel Amrep, 36782, with the old clamps that I filmed on loan to West Valley in early May with the old style clamps. They broke on camera and West Valley sent it back to East Valley with a set of the newer clamps. So it’s just a matter of when they wear out not that they replaced every last bit of them

Ex-Antelope Valley, was one of the last Mack LEs retired from Palmdale only a month or so after this was shot
@TrashBulldogProductions12 күн бұрын
Damn, these trucks don't look like the best rigs to drive in especially in the heat. I assume this is an Ex-Blue Barrel unit? Too bad they couldn't take more care of it too, I've some LE's that look nicer and more taken care of on the road too.
@Amrepdude49911 күн бұрын
They definitely weren’t, the stand up ones didn’t have A/C either and overheating was a near constant with them on any day over 95 degrees. Loved them but they had to go. This truck was based out of the Antelope Valley yard. I’m not gonna say the truck number to avoid drawing more attention to this, but it shouldn’t take long to figure out which exact unit it was going back through my Mack LE videos. I think this one was so dirty because it was a spare and had been a spare for several years. When they were assigned to standard routes they were usually kept cleaner and overall better taken care of. At the time this was shot the Mack fleet was in its final months of life and the 2-3 remaining units were slated for replacement in only a couple months. Thus the company didn’t want to put more money into them than was necessary to simply make them run the final days. The very few remaining units were being kept alive with parts from their retired brothers. As well as in several cases when the mechanics would literally just bandage a fix if they didn’t have the parts. This truck was a prime example. The control stand broke on it so they tied it back in with rope and bolts. Ladder was broken so they kept it up with a bungee cord etc. The bare minimum.

First comment lol. Anyway, great video! This is one of the trucks I found very interesting that was at GI. I like the look of the LEU cab. Looks good on amreps. I also like the dual axle HX-450s, reminds me of our dual axle WXs. I also like the octo body logos on the tailgate, looks very interesting and kinda unique lol. And to top it off the sign bored looks badass. GI was so cool back then. Great video yet again man!
@Amrepdude499Ай бұрын
Thanks! This was one of two I believe. Anderson had a lot of really interesting and random stuff. Think these were the only LEU Amreps in Socal for any company. G.I. always had the best paint shop in the company. Antelope Valley had them redo 101328 and Blue Barrel used to send them trucks to redo a lot. Now company painting seems to be contracted out rather than some yards putting their own unique touch on the units.
