Imagine diving down upside down at 160 feet in the air! This ride looks so fun and insane! That drop at 7:13 looks a bit too intense tho, seems like Tundra Twister may cause some problems with blacking out. Don't care though

Looks great! Reminds me of a Zierer starshape with only arms instead of six. Canada's Wonderland has a spectacular collection of flat rides would be cool to see them add more rare rides like vortex or evolution.
@Blank_Frank

They had an Evolution, and not a Fabbri one but a Nauta Bussink, like the Imperator. They also had a very rare Huss Skylab, but got it removed during covid. Oh and they got our good old french Night Fly and remodeled it into Soaring Timbers (a damn shame if you ask me but at least it's still in operation).

@@Blank_Frank yea kind of a shame about soaring timbers I have heard it runs rather slow. its good that Air wolf is still traveling around though. wish theme parks would start investing into more rare and unique flat rides like this instead of focusing solely of rollercoasters.
@IainHendry

@@Blank_Frank Wonderland never had a Nauta Bussink Evolution. Night Fly lives on at a great park that takes care of its rides and this is a much better life than rotting away in a field like New Comer.

It's incredible how much inventiveness and ingenuity there was at the turn of the century and how often it was given material form, so many bold ideas. We were a nation of creators and builders, once. We made beautiful and amazing things. To this day, most things from the turn of the century attract the eye for their craftsmanship and beauty, from vehicles, clothes, architecture, toys. How many things from today will be admired in a hundred years, by comparison. Do you see someone in the year 2120 looking at some cheap plastic-mold-injection kids toy or some boringly functional modern sedan or a modern day office building and going "Wow, they really knew how to make stuff back in the early 2000s!"?

i´d never seen a Star Shape with only 5 arms.. looks weird as one´s used to the original 6 arms version. Cool ride, tho
@IainHendry
@IainHendry 2 жыл бұрын
It’s a second-generation version. Also there is now an eddy current damper on each of the arms, so the rocking motion of each arm is much smoother. It also seems to assist in “holding” the arm when you float over the top, upside down. It’s a great improvement.

A good step would be dedicated tracks and giving freight the boot. We will never have a 1st-world country rail system if we are always letting freight trains stop passenger trains.

Do you know Iain if the speed limits have been increased? I believe that the trains have not been running as fast as they are actually permitted. Do you know? I'd be interested in hearing your view.
@IainHendry
@IainHendry 2 жыл бұрын
I think the main issue is the speed profile of the limits makes it impossible to operate at higher speeds for extended periods of time. ATP is so strict that by the time a train hits 70 km/h, they basically have to hit the brakes to drop down to 30 or 40 for a curve or some other reason. I’ve never seen a system with such conservative limits. Block Line > Mill (along Courtland and Hayward) is absolutely ridiculous. Train gets a 50 km/h limit when leaving the station, and then the very next pole it drops to 15 km/h. I hate it.
