Im a Leeds fan and always love going to Hillsborough. It was always a semi final venue pretty much every year. so im surprised you didnt know its capacity? and it was a lot more before all seater stadiums were made law. Think you need to do a bit more research when you go to other grounds, dont just rely on your mate
@Laudits3 күн бұрын
I knew it was large, but how many people know a stadium’s exact capacity? How many do you reckon you could have got in there standing before the law change? Appreciate the feedback, but that’s not how I do these videos. I rely on finding out what I can on the day, using the resources available (except the initial google 😂). It makes it more enjoyable for me.

Thanks for the video. The picture around 06:40 is of club legends across the years eg Derek Dooley, Roland Nilsspn, David Hirst. In Danny Roehl, Wednesday have an opportunity to make progress despite a difficult decade under the current ownership, although credit to the club for bringing Herr Röhl in. As Mark the Pitsmoor Owl states, on trophies won and top flight seasons, Wednesday eclipse many clubs and all others within Yorkshire. Sadly, a lack of investment in the stadium sees a restricted capacity of under 35k at present. You're welcome any time to sample a matchday. Best wishes! 🦉 🇬🇧

Wednesday were reknowned in the 40s to 70s for investing in the ground instead of the players, and part of the problems in 89 were that after relegation to the third tier we couldn't actually afford to keep the ground in good repair, and the secretary failed to inform the FA that it hadn't had the relevant safety certificates in years to host big games.

The new fan zone is not where you thought it was, it's not actually in the ground itself. We've bought a warehouse next to the ground and converted it into a new fan zone / event venue with a massive screen (like a mini version of box park). It's now open for the European Championship games. Also, we've totally rebuilt the pitch, with undersoil heating, hybrid grass, new drainage and astro turf perimeter track, hence the rubble on the video. Not bad for league two.

Wednesdays kop was the biggest terracing in europe not too many years ago,far bigger than Liverpool. Hillsborough is one of the most iconic historic stadiums in football. World cups,euro cups,fa cup semi's,league cups have all been played there. Wednesday were one of the best clubs in the country 20 years ago and through history but since relegation have fallen fron grace a little. One of the oldest professional clubs in history 156 years old. Wednesday use to play at Bramhall lane well before sheff united were ever formed. Wednesday were called the blades and united stole the name when Wednesday changed to the owls. Hope that helps and apologies for the ignorant woman on the desk who obviously knew nothing about the club.
