Great video. I had a Palm 7 from the late 1990s. Was once stranded in Houston due to weather but was able to use its data capability to find to Official Airline Guide on line, found an alternate flight, and was on my way. It's something we take for granted now but back in the day it was sort of magical.

It embarrasses Samsung, Google and Apple. You will not beat the battery and recharge system on this phone. This gentleman in the video compared the OP 12 to a Samsung 24 Ultra...they both have the same Snapdragon chip and perform under load equally. The Samsung has a special variant of the chip made that has increased clock speed but the OP12 keeps right up with it. As far as I am concerned..this was like watching when the Beatles came to the USA LOL I am an oldie obviously . The more you study the technical aspects of the OP12 the more you realize what a game changer this phone is. The 12 and 12R One Plus phones, IMO, are 2024 phone of the year and maybe for the next few years. I have already looked at the OP13 leaks... phenomenal. Samsung, Google, and Apple should be nervous...very nervous. This phone is about half the price of their flagships and can meet and/or beat them. OP12 is definitely a keeper and it is great to see One Plus shake up the market that the Big Three have swamped with over priced phones that do not even give you a charger with their $ 1200 phones! Thank you One Plus!
@ReviewsforNerds8 күн бұрын
You are right on the money IMHO. The ability to produce a phone of this quality for this price should have the "big boys" running for the hills.

What am I doing wrong? I have developer options set: OEM unlocking & USB debugging. I dowmloaded & unzipped to a fold ADB. I downloaded and unzipped the Android 14 img file and placed it into the same ADB folder (about 3.5 Megs). I have the cable between my laptop & Surface Duo. I click on the ADB folder & say to open in terminal. All that is following instructions (right?). But then things go south. I'm at C:\adb and enter the commands in the list: PS C:\adb> adb reboot bootloader PS C:\adb> fastboot flashing unlock FAILED (remote: ' Device already : unlocked!') fastboot: error: Command failed (on the Surface Duo) I see a screen with Surfce Duo -- Boot Select (Start) -- so I continue despite the already unlocked "error") THEN: PS C:\adb> adb reboot fastboot error: no devices/emulators found (HUH??) PS C:\adb> /fastboot delete-logical-partition system_ext_a /fastboot : The term '/fastboot' is not recognized as the name of a cmdlet, function, script file, or operable program. Check the spelling of the name, or if a path was included, verify that the path is correct and try again. Windows PowerShell does not load commands from the current location by default. If you trust this command, instead type: ".\/fastboot". See "get-help about_Command_Precedence" for more details. PS C:\adb> At THIS point, I gave up being stubborn. What am I doing wrong? Please HELP! TIA!

if you are using my instructions and are in powershell then you need to use a "./" in front of your commands "./fastboot..." and not "/fastboot..." other than that the commands look correct. ./adb reboot fastboot ./fastboot delete-logical-partition system_ext_a ./fastboot delete-logical-partition system_ext_b ./fastboot delete-logical-partition product_a ./fastboot delete-logical-partition product_b ./fastboot flash system path to extracted system (whateveryounamedyourimage.img) ./fastboot reboot -w

the appeal to me here is the raspberry pi as a portable pocket terminal console. sadly it ends there. it’s underpowered, and not as functional or powerful as something like a uconsole and in some regards not as functional as a pocketchip. the form factor with linux is the appeal, to have a pocket terminal where you can comfortably and conveniently ssh and issue commands anywhere and even have a graphical interface. but sadly it is not as robust compared to a rooted android phone… but , then again, smartphones are not x86/amd, or arm, or even risc. you can’t natively run a 64-but linux distro with a gui. we’re not there yet with that stuff.

Great overview of the Palm and Palm Desktop. Was a power user of Palm devices from late 90s till about 2008. Went through 2 Palm IIIxe, a TRG Pro, and a Palm Vx. Used the Palm keyboard and the Palm modem that ran on AAA batteries. They were very capable with the right software. QuickOffice for Word and Excel, CompanionLink to sync with Outlook and Pocket Quicken for expenses. You could call in to your home PC with the modem using a hotel phone line and sync everything, including sending and receiving email. Could even get news and such from a service called AvantGo for the road. I still have all of the Palm units and accessories safely tucked away in all the original boxes for future use.
