What kind of disk and grinding tool are you using?
@fertanllc1945 Жыл бұрын
The customer used a grinding wheel, but it is sufficient to use a wire brush and clean the surface with a silicone remover before applying the rust converter.

So for the bottom of the auto what would be the procedure? From start to finish? Sand, brush and then spray this throughout bottom underside?
@fertanllc1945 Жыл бұрын
Step 1: Cleaning with a High-Pressure Washer To begin the underbody restoration process, it's crucial to start with a clean slate. Use a high-pressure washer to remove any dirt, grime, and loose rust particles from the underbody. Pay close attention to the nooks and crannies, wheel wells, and suspension components. A high-pressure washer will effectively dislodge debris, preparing the underbody for further treatment. Step 2: Applying Rust Converter and Letting it React Rust is the archenemy of any vehicle's underbody, but it can be effectively neutralized using FERTAN rust converter. After thoroughly cleaning the underbody, apply the rust converter to any visible rust spots. The rust converter works by chemically converting iron oxide (rust) into a stable compound that can be painted over. Allow the rust converter to react for the recommended time (typically 24 hours) to ensure maximum effectiveness. Step 3: Washing off the Rust Converter Once the rust converter has had sufficient time to react, wash off the underbody with water to remove any dissolved rust and residue. Pay close attention to the areas where the rust converter was applied. Use a high-pressure washer or a hose to ensure a thorough rinse. By removing the dissolved rust, you create a clean surface ready for the next step. Step 4: Applying Stoneguard Protective Undercoating After cleaning off the rust converter, it's time to provide long-lasting protection to the underbody. Stoneguard protective undercoating is a durable, resin based coating that guards against corrosion, impact, and abrasion. It acts as a barrier between the underbody and road debris, protecting against chips and scratches. Apply the stoneguard undercoating evenly across the underbody, paying extra attention to vulnerable areas like the wheel wells, frame rails, and suspension components.

Red oxide primer few coats not straight stone chip
@tonygoshive785 Жыл бұрын
Rust converters are a joke, if you do a test you will find that it can usually just convert 0.2mm worth of rust, beyond that it will continue to rot, best to use a oil based underseal so it deeply gets into the rust and stops from spreading. Rust remover is better than converter if you must
@fertanllc1945 Жыл бұрын
You're absolutely right that many rust converters only deal with surface rust and simply cover it up. However, the mechanism of FERTAN Rust Converter is quite different. The tannins contained in the product react with Fe3 Oxide (rust) until it's entirely dissolved, effectively removing even large layers of rust. This is less common in the automotive sector due to the thinner sheet metal, but it's often seen in industrial applications or among our marine customers. Once the product has decomposed the rust layer and encounters Fe2 (bare metal), it complexes a layer of zinc phosphate that protects against further corrosion. This layer can then be painted over with any conventional primer. We'd be more than happy to provide you with more information about the chemical processes of the product. Please feel free to contact us directly at [email protected] for additional details.
