Karen & Phil, Great video. The local saw mill in New Gloucester hangs the metal they find in the logs on a post in the office, you guys should start saving it for memory sake. 😢😢 You have to wonder how many years ago it was put in there. Keep the videos coming, I look for a new one everyday. As Joe @ OWB would say, 👍Have a great day. Dave D. from Auburn.

Just lost 4 nice straight, topped Black Oak trees because we cut a hollow one down that twisted and took out a nearby small bitternut hickory tree. The homeowner was not pleased, so we picked up and hauled off his brush for him as a peace offering to no avail. Win some, lose some I suppose. 2-1/2 cords out of one chain, might go broke if that became the norm.

I’ve had them days back when I had a tree service accidents happen an all you can do is hope they understand . We had about 20 cord last yr that was covered in dirt when we did the wood yard excavation . That’s about all I was getting outa a chain was 3 cord but we got through it . Might have been a few bad words said each time I was sharpening but it got done lol.

Isn't funny how some days that promise the best turn round and kick you in the butt! Then there's the days that start out ordinary and turn out golden,cause nothing breaks,there's no steel in the logs and the splitter starts first pull and subsequently you get an extra cord split. Great video you guys. Cheers from HB NZ

Thx for great video! I would buy a Sappie if I was her, to bend over might harm your back in the long run. A Husqvarna Sappie 80cm or perhaps a Fiskars, the fiskars are great but they are light which is not always a great thing since if you dont hit hard enough using your arm your sappie might bounce of the wood instead of get stuck in the wood. Just a thought, your doing great! :)

Them vertical splitters are the way to go for making small splits . I’m a lil biased because that’s all I’ve ever used since I was a kid but they’re definitely catching on . @AllenFamilyFirewood
@AllenFamilyFirewood 3 күн бұрын
Thanks Dan spring is a good time to be out getting the wood put up while it’s still cool out . We do have some elm but I won’t take it cause it’s just a pain to split so I’d say that’s number 1 and white birch is my second choice . Birch cuts and splits nice but the customers don’t like seeing it in there load and when I do get it I save it for myself to burn . Sounds like that hot weather is headed our way supposed to get up into the upper 90s next week and this old northern boy don’t like the heat one bit so I will be inside building firewood pallets in the ac .

In SE Ohio we had a ton of ash at one time. The emerald ash borer came into northern Ohio first on a Chinese cargo ship. Our ash was the first to die. There is very little ash left that is burnable. Ash rots fast when it dies. It was my favorite firewood. It burns great and splits like a dream. There is an old poem about wood from 1500's England. The last 2 lines say, "but ash wood wet or ash wood dry, a king shall warm his slippers by. I am really going to miss ash. You should be able to burn it a few days after you split it.

The time it would take to properly scan a log would add 5 min to each log I’m guessing so that’s just not possible for us to loose that much time .
