That happened to me the first time I did it and I found out the text has to be white in order for the "remove background" feature to "cut out" the text. If I make the text a different color, it won't work.

It is really silly of @Canva to not have this be an effect option on shapes. What I did was create the rectangle I want in Photoshop with shadow. Exported that as PNG and just use that everytime. So sad

This is adding a shadow to an uploaded image. What about adding a shadow to a shape from Elements?

That's the thing. You can't add a shadow directly to the shape you bring in from Elements. This is why we have to do this workaround.

@@kimoliff9230 Sadly, it's the same thing, you can't add shadows to them. If you want to add a shadow for a different shape, you can find a frame with that same shape, drop a photo into the frame and use that as your "shadow" base like in the video. Not ideal. Alternatively, you can create the shadow image using a different tool like Affinity, Photoshop, etc.

Thank you! For me it didn't automatically did the slicing but I played around and figured that, in the export persona, in the Layers panel, you just need to select the artboards you want to export and press the "Create Slice" at the bottom right corner of the Layers panel. Then you can go to the Slices panel and export all like in your video.

I have searched and I cannot find a solution. I open a pdf using publisher but the document is messed up. Does anyone have an idea how to fix this?

It's hard to say what's the problem but sometimes the PDF may look messed up because of the fonts. If you don't have the font used in the document installed. It could look like everything is 'off'.

I usually just duplicate the shape, move that layer behind the main shape and adjust the location if needed (though I've found it almost always has an offset that is good), and change the color to a medium gray - that works pretty well!

Great concept, Lynette. I always appreciate your tutorials. However, is there any way to add a voiceover to the videos? I know people with good eyesight just don't think about it, but there are lots of us out here who find videos like this completely useless because we cannot see. I always sigh and roll my eyes when I run across a video that just has a music background with no way of knowing what the heck is being shown in the video. 🤨
