Respectfully, Dr. Boyd, you should not say that "it should never hurt." Oftentimes this exam is ordered for patients suffering from vaginismus or other pelvic pain. The video would have been more honest and reassuring in my opinion if you had explained that sometimes the exam can be painful but that it is important to try to do your best to give your doctor(s) the best image of what may be going on with your health. Although I liked that you stressed the importance of communication with the sonographer - the patient always has the option to end the exam if the pain becomes too much or to ask the sonographer to move more slowly to minimize the pain.
