I've seen articles on so-called "late in life lesbians," who lived 50 years as heterosexuals, then (after their estrogen dips at menopause) they turn gay. One of the articles quoted one woman as saying, "We're learning that human sexuality is fluid". This is the new LGBT talking point. The old one, as advanced in this otherwise-wonderful video at around the 25-minute mark, is the contradictory claim about how "sexuality is fixed and can't change. The person is born that way and it's hardwired in". I wish the homosexual community would get its story straight [no pun intended]. Is it "fluid"? Is it fixed and unchanging? I too was a third generation JW. I "faded away" during the 1990's when I discovered the WBTS was a United Nation NGO in support of the UN, the lies they told the European Court of Human Rights concerning blood transfusions, the truth about the "donation basis" change (to avoid taxes) the true history of the "607 BCE" date and how/why the date is wrong making 1914 wrong. The WBTS changing the meaning of Jesus's promis that the "generation" of his return "would by no means pass away" to now say that since the generation of 1914 DID pass away the meaning of the word "generation" was twisted to mean a group or class of wicked people over the ages starting with Cain. So Jesus words "this generation" no longer meant THIS (the generation of 1914) generation. So did Jesus promis fail? Did he lie? Or is the WBTS date of Christ's return (where no one would know the date or the hour) false, just like the earliest failed date of 1874 for Jesus invisible return? The generation of 1914 is dead and gone. So if Jesus didn't return in 1914, then he didn't "inspect his Father's house" so then he didn't select his "faithful and discrete slave class" to govern and provide "food at the proper time" to the flock. 1914 is a FAILED date like 1874, 1925, 1935, 1975 and all the others. Friends, the WBTS is based on false dates, false predictions, lies and hypocrisy. It's a publication and real estate corporation that has corporate rules that apply to all it's "members" that includes baptised "members" that legally requires them to follow the corporate rules or face removal (disfellowship) You are then fired. Understand? The WBTS is not who they claim to be. They have seated themselves "in the seat of Moses" without the authority they claim to have based on Jesus return in 1914. I am waiting for the convention drama about a good JW family who loses one of their children to a cult that's come to town. Leading into a discussion about the dangers of cults. LOL

Even doing simple things like JW's not being able to participate with a volunteer organization seems so controlling. One can help at a soup kitchen, hospital or the local fire department. JW's are stopped from socializing with other people in the community and because all their free time must be for the organization.

I’m as homophobic as you can get but I’ve got good news for you Ben. Read Revelation 20: 1-6. Armageddon as wrongly preached by the GB (they’ve been saying it can happen anytime now) is not coming for at least another 1000 years. Matt 24: 3-5 says that the time we see now with wars and reports of wars, pestilences and other atrocities, Jesus said the end is not yet. WHY NOT? Because Rev 20 has to happen first. When Satan is thrown into the abyss the event does not declare anything about Armageddon, or the “Great Tribulation”. It says simply….the angel with the keys to the abyss grabs the devil and throws him into the abyss. That’s it….a completely invisible event. What happens next? Christ establishes his kingdom immediately after this event, does away with war and starts a great awakening campaign to introduce God’s Kingdom (Matt 24:14). Now all those who are living when this happens (probably most of the 7-8 billion on earth today) will be the generation that will receive the complete experience of getting younger, healthier, watching billions being resurrected, seeing the earth brought back to paradise and then we will also see and recognize when the devil is released.(Matt 24: 34) (we are that privileged generation) Read Ezekiel 38. This tells us a lot of what leads to Armageddon. It mentions who the eighth king is. Who is the disgusting thing that causes desolation(Gog of Magog) and so much more. So….according to what the BIBLE says and not the WatchTower teaches we have a wonderful very near future to look forward to not the scary fearful death filled future of Armageddon.

I was in when the congregations had to prepare the Drama presentation. As you rightly said Ben, the Drama is the highlight of the WT District/Regional conventions but even with 6 months preparation time, the work load, the pressure was just terrible. I had to get a lot of 'old people' for the drama I had the "privilege" to coordinate. It was a nightmare. Making sure participants knew their lines, where to stand, how to gesture, OMG, feedback from elders (JW congregation leaders) all criticizing this and that - often rightly so - but I was a 29 year old window cleaner elder. What did i know about drama, stage production, etc? All my cast and helpers put on a smile but I vowed never to accept that privilege again.

I have enjoyed your humor and how well you articulate your story.Thank you for being so transparent. I’m not a JW, but grew up with a narcissistic mother who became a JW when I was 12 years old. By then I was already a critical thinker and didn’t want anything to do with that sort of ideology. I recently went no contact with my mother in September of 2023. I’m 57 years old now and can now dedicate myself to embark on my healing journey. Growing up around so much judgment really made my life difficult. It wasn’t easy for me to let go That said, it was the best thing for my mental and physical health.My younger sister did get caught up into getting baptized at the tender age of 10. Then within the congregation ,our mother gave consent for her to marry a 28 year old JW .Long story short, she ran away from him,after 34 years of marriage, to be with her true love. She’s 50 & her boyfriend is 53. I have cousin who’s also gay. Well you know how that goes. I find it difficult to believe that both of his parents who claim to be JW have completely cut him off, for simply following his heart. I hope you continue to do well in your studies. Please continue to share your beautiful story. I know there’s a lot of I’m glad you know it’s great to have dreams and go all the way after them. A lot of people are leaving the JW's but even more are joining. I don't understand it. I was never tempted to join even though they used to come over a lot.

I find it odd that JWs think sexual preference is a choice because they published an article in the Awake in the late 80s/early 90s about how there is scientific evidence that it's not a choice. It went into detail about brain waves and more. I was happy to read they understood until I got to the end where they encouraged people BORN homosexual to pray it away. I couldn't believe both concepts were in the same article...
