Hey, sorry for not responding sooner, I've just spotted your post. I'm 180cm and though the standard setting on the GS handlebars was ok I did suffer in the shoulders after about an hour or so but also the front leaning part did make the old crown jewels suffer too. I am very happy now with the risers. Did a 5 hour ride out last week and though I did eventually get shoulder ache it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. My arms are now not outstretched as they used to be, so not putting as much pressure on the shoulders/neck. Yes, I would recommend them for sure. Hope you get it sorted, I can’t think of not riding the bike, so any niggles like this would have to be sorted. Happy riding 😎

Thanks for the comment 😀 Yeah, my first impressions where the same, I've read similar comments of the R1300GS is just a looky-likey to a few other manufacturer's Adventure bike models. This fact was one of the reasons why I went with the 1250GSA, it is unique and unmistakable and just stands on its own. I'm hoping for some sort of return to this look in the 1400GS but I'm not holding my breath. Spring is just round the corner, happy riding days 😎

I watched an Australian KZfaq video on the 1300gs, there has been a lot of issues and recalls over there, the biggest issue was with the gearbox. I have had a 2019 1250GSA for a couple years now and I wouldn't bother upgrading to the 1300 not that I don't like it, it would just feel like a bit of a downgrade, seeing as I have mine fully specked and fully kitted out with every possible upgrade. There are a few things that took some getting used to and if I was honest they would be the same few things that would decide if I was to keep the GSA as a long term bike, firstly the rigid front end suspension feels really weird after riding sport bikes and muscle bikes since 1972, that's made a bit worse by the shear height of the bike, I'm 6ft tall and can only just tip toe, that brings on anxiety in stop go traffic and awkward junctions you feel like your going to drop it in traffic all the time, the weight wouldn't be so bad if you could easily flat foot, it's also and issue when manual handling the bike especially backwards, I cannot reverse my bike up onto my drive, nor can I reverse it out of my garage uphill onto the drive, so I've had to get a big heavy weight full length trolley to spin the bike around in the garage. The quick shifter I don't use so it doesn't bother me if it's smooth or not, I've never had a quick shifter ever since 1972, so I'm old school and don't find it a problem to just pull the clutch lever in. I love riding the bike it's all the bike you could ever want, it's only the ridiculous height and weight that would make me decide to go back to some sort of cruiser or retro muscle bike.

Thank you for the great comment 👍 yeah, the 1300 is a brand new bike, I've equated it to v1.0 of any piece of software, you just KNOW that v1.1 is literally round the corner and v2.0 not far off beyond that. That engine whine made me pause when I first heard it - didn't sit right with me, it sounds like this new engine is going to get some tweaks in the next iteration. I understand when you say the 1300 feels like a 'downgrade', to me, the 1250GS is 'Peak GS' and the 1300 is like GS II. It is fun adding accessories to a bike, a bit of personalisation I suppose and I've already bought a few to put on (will make yet another GS accessories video 😁) I hear on the height thing, the issues you point out are exactly my thoughts too. There was no way I was going to tippy toe on the 1250 if I bought one, loaded up AND a pillion, nah. Took out a normal height one a couple of times and sat on a bunch of them at the bike shop and knew that a factory lowered one WITH a low seat AND suspension set to low is what I'm going to end up with to have my feet planted firmly. Planning your parking is more important with the GS than with my R1200c, its quite a bulk to move even up a slight incline, good idea on the trolly. I like the quick shifter, never had one before, so enjoying it. I still go into the garage almost every night and look at it 😍 not many nice days, weather wise, since I got it. Today looks nice, so might get out for a dawdle later. As I said in the video, having the 1200c and the GS gives me 2 types of ride - I am happy . Happy and safe journeys 😎

Thanks for the post. I appreciate the battle in the head about which one to buy. My mind was saying 1300 due to all the techiness but my heart was saying the 1250GSA all day long. I fully spec-ed up the 1300 Tarmasalata one online with everything I wanted, sat and looked at it for days, but eventually, the shine wore off the 1300 and it just ended up confirming that the 1250 is indeed 'PEAK GS' and that this new bike, the 'GS II' if you like, is not a continuation of the line. I thought time might make me accept that headlight - NOPE! Congrats on the new bike, wishing you many many safe and happy miles on it 😎. For all its clever gadgets and more power /less weight, the 1300 is cheap-looking and ridiculously ugly. Theres no way I would let my 1250 go for one. Had a demo and it broke down ! And slowly others are finding the new engine clatters quite badly and the "improved transmission" actually isnt all that. Its got some good real world improvements, but as an overall package, no thanks, I personally dont think it cuts it and cheap in money terms it is not .... It has actually accentuated just how good the 1250 is !

Thank you for the great comment. I agree. You have put into words what my gut was telling me from the day of the leaked spy pics but was hoping I was wrong. The engine noise yes, I read that and thought how different can it be and when I heard it, in real life, it was quite noticeable. I put it down to 'character' but a lot of people have made the same comment. If I'm asked what would be the one thing I'd pick off the 1300 to put onto the 1250 it would be the blind spot thing. It may turn out that the 1250GS/GSA may very well be known as 'PEAK GS' and this new bloodline - The GS II, will have to fight its way to be the king of Adventure bikes, on its own merits.

Agree with previous comment - the GSA1250 is more "rugged" looking, bigger and more character. The new 1300 looks more like a V-Strom and a few things I hate are 1) No Tail light !! (incorporated in rear indicators) which I actually think is dangerous and possibly illegal? 2) New standard luggage is cheap looking and side loading 3) "x"-shaped headlight is slightly ugly IMO.

I'm considering getting the whole indicators changed with that package from 'A Bike Thing' which includes the lighting up of the rear break light. The BMW 1250 GSA is a great bike. A very well known and tested bike. I guess that we have to wait and verify if the next GSA offers an extensive evolution of the actual bike. And after, we can compare the two to see if it’s a whole new bike or not. The new 1300 GS is more modern, technologically enhanced than the previous model 1250, with new tech features. A different silhouette, is slimmer, looks more compact and aesthetics are attractive but not overwhelming. I think that something similar, to the GS will happen with the GSA. The body work on the GS is quite different now. Central locking of the panniers and top box, that you already could see equipping the RT or the K 1600 GT and GTL, will be available for the first time in the GS 1300, along with rear radar monitoring, because the front adaptive cruise control by radar was already present on the RT, but the blind spot warning signals are completely new on the GS and in all BMW motorcycle models, feature which adds safety to the rider is as always, very welcome. Less weight and more power are also features for better performance that we all can agree that will turn to demonstrate their merits on the riding experience and in general the bike, that seems to be receiving benefits that improved the model a lot, in the road riding, not so much on the off-road capabilities, but it gained a new suspension system called Evo, and to know what this in fact means, we have to ride the new bike. The looks are subjective but the modifications, from my point of view don’t represent a drastic cut out,or a rupture with the prior aesthetic arraignment . It just looks more modern, and that’s a fine thing. With a price nearly to £30.000, it must be a lot better that the actual model in order to justify spending that amount for the bike! Cheers and ride safe! ✌️✌️ 5:20

Hello again. Great videos, So glad to see you have resolved your audio issues. Well done. I look forward to watching as you get out and about over the Summer. Happy riding, stay shiny side up 😊 👍

Thanks, I'm getting there with the audio. I need to be checking my setup a bit more frequently to make sure things are running properly. Looking forward to doing more rides and more videos, I'm starting to really enjoy it and the distraction from the day job it provides. I'm starting to think about YT Shorts and Tiktoks . . dunno . . maybe I shouldn't run until I've mastered/half decent at walking first.

Hello from California. Nice work! Also Ambrosia is in great shape. I have a 98 R1200C.

Heeeyyy, thanks for the comment 👍 Yeah, Ambrosia is also a '98 R1200c. I have had her since new, can't ever part with her. I noticed a lack of KZfaq content for this now somewhat rare bike so thought I'd do my bit. I still remember the promotional BMW Video on highway 1 in California I believe - I was hooked.

@@AmbrosiasRideOuts Well, thanks again for the R1200C content. I ride up here in the California Redwoods and coast. Yes, Highway 1 is a beautiful drive. I have not named my girl. I sold my Harley Dyna and got her with only 13,000 miles, about 7 months ago.

I struggled with audio for the first couple of videos until I got the Purple Panda mic. My helmet set up was a lot simpler though without the problems a modular lid throws up. There’ll be a solution out there…or you could just get a standard non flip helmet for vlogging….Keep it up though you seem to be a lot more relaxed and comfortable in front of a camera than I feel!!

Hi Robert, sorry to see you're still having issues with the audio. I have a nice collection of videos where my audio was rubbish too. You'll get there in the end I'm sure But..I would still recommend the set up I have as both a simple and reliable system, with very few 'hanging wires'. Everyone finds the right mix for them eventually. It was a lovely ride non the less and well done for getting out before the end of March as you said 👍 Best wishes. S.Ol'.D.

Thank you for the kind words. Yeah, the gaming headset MICs are just too short so went back to the Purple Panda for this ride. Yes, I only just got the ride in before the end of March 😉 it was a spare of the moment decision as I looked out the window and checked the forecast to the end of the month - its now or never 😂 Do I dare say that I intend to get at least 2 rides in April. looking forward to more of your vids and I am using all my mental strength to drag the good weather closer.

@@AmbrosiasRideOuts I think maybe, that the Mic was too short as you don't have the same set up as mine, probably why it was further away ? Just a thought. I'm hoping to get out soon myself. Looking forward to May..When my New Triumph Bonnerville Speedmaster 1200 is being delivered. Keep cracking away at the audio..one day it will just click..👍

Hello again. You are going through the exact frustrations I went through myself trying to get the sound right. I believe I have a very good, very easy to set up and very minimilist way of doing it now without lots of dangly wires etc. I can show you my set up if I can somehow get an email address from you...still working on that one lol. Where in the country are you if you don't mind me asking. As you know I have a new channel myself but have been recording all last year. I'd like to offer my help if we can get in touch privately....as I said I'm working on that hence my question of where you are.👍 P.s. the Mic ( inside the helmet) connects to the adapter ( outside the helmet) Which in turn connects to the actual go pro. So much easier if I could show you.

Good to hear from you again. Yes, I'd like to see your setup. You could do me a favour too actually, I believe I have setup a (sacrifice) contact email address on my 'About' page if you could test that route for me please, let me know if you can't see it, it should be at the bottom.

Hi, I'm Chris, My channel is also relatively new 'Some Ol' Dude'. I was watching and noticed your mike issue, I had the exact problem ..then I bought a microphone that 'gamers' use for their XBox mics and hey presto it worked. They are quite cheap on amazon too. hope it works for you too. Best wishes.
