Great video . Also the whole kit (7=5 outer handles & 2 inner handles) You can get on Amazon for $40. If one breaks or cracks they're all gonna soon. Especially in Florida with the sun. 🌞

You'd have to take the interior door panel off to access the latch from the inside. Been there before!

Hello Runmaster, great job on the trailer. I recently purchased 1976 Trillium 1300, my exterior aluminium rubber trim that goes around the trailer is broken. I was wondering if you can guide me where can I find a new one? Thanks in advance!

Dude,... I loved this vid! My Sienna has had several broken door handles, but outside of that, has been a dependable source of transportation for my family. My two daughters (seen in my avatar) have been occupants of this van, since 2004. Now, my oldest is 16, and drives this van. What I wanted to comment about was YOUR daughter. I am impressed that she was able to narrate this vid, at her age. I'm sure she was prompted, but still, out of all the vids I've watched to do my repair work, this has got to rate at my #1 vid of all time, for those repairs! She will grow up, and again see this vid, and she'll be reminded that she had an awesome dad! Great job dude, and wish I had thought of this!

Cindy: No need to add a heating system as such. I can tell you through experience, the small, cubic, ceramic heaters work GREAT......and are so small they can be put in your storage area. That's what I will use in my refurnished 79 Trillium.

Runmaster: I am still removing windows, door, trim from my Trillium in preparation for painting it. I ran into an issue today which did not surprise me. I wanted to know if you did as well. When removing one window, I found that the wood frame that the window attaches to was virtually rotted away. Did you have to replace any wood in your camper....like around windows or the floor? I would much rather find issues like that now before the Trillium is painted. Any other surprises awaiting me? Thanks again for inspiration and information.
@acadianfever

I guess I was lucky; while some of the wood had clearly gotten wet at some point, none of it was rotten. I was prepared to somehow take out the old stuff & replace it, but didn't have to. The only other issue I ran into was a leak in one of the windows AFTER I re-installed them. Had to remove the window, put more sealant in & re-install ( Not enough the first time!). The floor in ours is fine. The cabinet latches don't work well, we're often wondering what will fall out on a trip. New latches is our next project. Regarding a heating system - you're right, it's hardly needed. A Ceramic heater will work; we have a propane powered catalytic heater, which works good too, although they're expensive. We paid (I think...) $150 used, for ours. You can see a picture of it on our fiberglassRV registery, under "customization" www.fiberglassrv.com/forums/registry/1556/

Thanks again for your response. As of now two window frames were sawdust....but that's okay. Am doing it once and the right way. Couple other comments while I have your attention. I looked at your pics and the inside is nice. My interior is in excellent condition except for door latches! (HA!) I am replacing doors with a lighter wood. That exterior paint you used, does the actual color have a touch of pink in it or is that just the picture? Lastly (for now) Where can I purchase door rubber seal and the rubber seal for doorway. This will have to be replaced. Also......what do you think about AC sitting on frame where propane canister would have been.....would hold weight and then I would cut through fiberglass and frame in like window......would be located under dinette area. I do not want one on top. I have never liked those in other campers I have had. Thanks again for help. M

Rumaster: I am going to ask you several questions.....and it's your fault I am asking them. I was in the market for a small camper to pull with my Subaru Outback and had planned on getting a new one.......that is until I saw this video.....and as they say...the rest is history. For three months and 26 hours of driving I finally found a 1979 Trillium in very good condition. First of all, it had been kept inside when not in use. The fiberglass is in very good condition with only a few places to treat. I do not like propane.....so am taking furnace, stove, and propane tank out. I am in the process of stripping the camper down for painting. Here are a few questions that I would appreciate you addressing when you have time. (1) I want to know the color of your Trillium and where I can purchase a metallic paint similar to it. (2) Where can I purchase replacement parts such as : door hinges, black molding that goes around center of camper, the black plastic pieces that go around the windows. Since it does not have springs....where can I get those rubber things that keep the frame separated from the body? Lastly for now......in your opinion, I would like to mount a small AC where the propane tank was on the front and cut a hole in fiberglass and run AC under dinette table. Think that would work? Thanks again for the video...it REALLY DID INSPIRE me to purchase my 1979 Trillium. I am amazed at the room and storage for such a small camper....and my Outback likes it too. I got 25 mpg pulling it home.....mostly flat roads. Thanks again.

Hi, Mathew! First of all, congratulations on buying an older fibreglass RV, especially a Trillium! You'll get lots of comliments & questions about it. We often get requests to sell ours. To answer your questions: 1) the paint code of our Trillium is 2003 Toyota 4Q2 2) You can buy the hinges from this company. www.coldsupply.com/Kason-139-Series-Hinge-Flush-Mount_p_597.html Or you can try to fix yours. If they're rusty, rubbing compound works. 3) For the black molding, Jr products # 10061 For the black plastic window pieces, JR products # 11501 You can buy them from here www.prvparts.com/rv-trim-molding-s/2451.htm?searching=Y&sort=7&cat=2451&show=60&page=2 4) I don't know about the rubber things, sorry 5) The front mounted AC should work, although some people mount that on the roof. Thanks again, Joyce & I hope you really enjoy your Trillium. We've nick-named ours "cheap Trill", since we only paid $1200 for it, lol

Well....I wasn't as fortunate as you on the initial price.....but I will end up with a fantastic camper when completed. I looked at older Scamps, Casitas, Uhaul, Boler and Trillium. Two things sold me on the Trillium: (1) workmanship/quality and the openness and visibility. The ONLY weakness I have found is the door. The top hinge has worked loose and someone put a carriage bolt all the way through. I may have to do that on both hinges. Thank you for answering my questions about the parts. I would rather not roof mount the AC. I used to have it in my horse trailer living quarters and I didn't like it as well as the one I had coming from the front. Much cheaper too. I will be having the frame painted as well.....so am excited about the completion. I am now stripping down the camper so the painted can prep, prime and paint. Thanks again....and I will have more questions as I delve into this camper...Yes.....seeing your video gave me the incentive to do this.
