No additional access is happening, because this project is a talking project and not a doing project. We have all been taking about the same exact issues and information over and over and over again. There is nothing new here. Zero. So when will the talking stop and the doing begin? At this point, that's all hundreds of us really care about right now. We really don't care about any more talk. We know all about the project, the traffic patterns, the tax implications, etc. etc. etc. etc. If we don't move soon, all those involved in this project are going to have Alzheimer's and they won't remember anything about the hopes and dreams related to Waterfront Holland. The community has already decided that this is something we want to see. This was obvious with all of the community engagement for years. There is no downside to developing a waterfront for Holland. So now what? Holland is going to spend the next five years to determine if the community wants a waterfront? Right now we have great big portions of ugly unused land just sitting there. My young daughter could develop the waterfront in Holland and make it prettier than it is right now. And she could probably complete the project faster than the City of Holland. It's ludicrous. How can there be "lots of work ahead" of us? Sounds like he is setting up for additional wasted years of doing nothing concrete. Some of us run businesses in this community, and if we ran our businesses like the City of Holland is running the waterfront project, we would all be long out of business. "We want to hear from the community"? The City of Holland has already heard from the community for years. We need another 10 years to revisit the same issues over and over again ad nauseam? All buzz words, and nothing substantive..... "we understand there's lots of work ahead of us", "this has been a long process", "it would ramp up immediately", "there's lots more work to be done", "we are at this crucial juncture", "the public holds the future for this proposal", "a fork in the road", "a lot of work in front of them "evaluate that moving forward"...... "And that would be a multi-year project." Well, there's our answer, folks. Nothing but blah, blah, blah, meaningless drivel all summed up by setting forth a multi-year timeline before any ACTION is even begun. Then the City will have to spend three years to decide what day of the week is the best day of the week to start putting the shovel to the dirt. Maybe that will have to be a public referendum as well. No one in their right mind is asking the question, "why not do all that detail work first". Instead, the question being asked is why are Hollanders paying property taxes to support a competent and efficient city government of professionals who make things happen in a timely fashion, when the city government seems to be operating on a grade school level? That's the question being asked. Why would the community not be supportive of moving forward with a waterfront development project when so many in the community were engaged in having this happen for years? Does Keith Van Beek think the community residents were engaged for years because they had nothing else to do? The Waterfront Holland website does not describe any ACTION. It's just laying out all the same topics that have been discussed at meetings for years. Listening to this gentleman drone on and on as if he were discussing this project with the 1st graders at Holland West is unhealthy for my blood pressure.
